Why do I feel a distinct pain in my forehead, as the one resulting from banging my head against an impenetrable wall of stupidity?

Let me spell it out for you: NO MARXIST DENIES THAT THE ABOLITION OF PRIVATE PROPERTY IS A CORE NECESSITY FOR COMMUNISM. After all, the very definition of communism involves the lack of private property.

But communism needs MORE than the abolition of private property, and Marxism deals with MORE than just communism.

Or, in other words, your definition isn't wrong. It's just horribly incomplete. Do you understand now?

thank you, Edric, for finally coming around to my original post.

next time, before you simply argue with me for the sake of arguing, read what I say.

As I said originally here http://www.dune2k.com/forum/index.php?topic=14495.msg236841#msg236841

"however, private property is by all means enough to define "Marxism" for that was his first and foremost tenent of communism."

to which Edric replied:

"And if you think that's enough to define Marxism... then you just prove your ignorance of Marxism yet again."

To which I replied:

to which Edric replied (finally)  "NO MARXIST DENIES THAT THE ABOLITION OF PRIVATE PROPERTY IS A CORE NECESSITY FOR COMMUNISM."

Edrics final quote is exactly what I originally said.

full circle at last, but all the arguing in between was pointless.

What we have here is a failure to communicate...

I believe this whole argument started from the use of just one inappropriate word: "enough".

You said the abolition of private property was enough to define Marxism. I said hell no, Marxism is about far more than just that. In other words, I said your definition was incomplete.

Now do you see my point? Can we please move on?

I have a proposal. Since I am a moderator, I could just cut out all the off-topic Marxism posts and toss them into the Dungeon. But that would require the consent of all parties involved: Me, you (Emprworm) and Wolfwiz.

fine, Edric.  minus all the name calling ("God you're an idiot"- or something like that you said to me), I'll grant you that point.

*ahem* You're not the one to talk about name-calling...

But anyway, I'm glad we had that sorted out. Finally...

Let's compromise: I'll split the topic. Then Nema can have the "enjoyment" of throwing the new "Pointless argument between Edric and Emprworm" topic into the Dungeon. ;)

Well said, Newt. I just find it somewhat... frustrating... that after a good, solid page of bickering we've yet to reach a conclusion, or to edit Nema's initial definitions.

It was a good, solid page of off-topic bickering, so of course we didn't reach any conclusion regarding the original issue. Let's go back to that topic now and start a constructive discussion. :)

Capitalism: tendency to spare a specifical amount of product, income or other resources for improvement of whole production process (Kratky slovnik slovenskeho jazyka, 1993)

Communism: socioeconomical formation, a system, without class differences; there is no difference between physical and spiritual work, a city and a village, and also no exploitation of human by other human due to a high level of productivity development; product of work redistributed by subject's needs (Slovnik cudzich slov, 1978)

I've just noticed this thread. Hm.

Ok, I'll reflect a little more in my definition that communism encompasses a little more than the abolition of private property. However, Edric, the detail which I expect you'd prefer cannot be feasibly put into a definition; that's not what a defintion is about.

Thankyou, Caid, I'll think about those aspects in the other thread.
