Good grief...

I have been reading articles upon articles about this. One particularly at www.us-israel.org. It is one of my favorite websites for studying the history and writings of jewish peopel throughout the ages. There was an article though that said the gospels were the major factor in the creation of anti semitism.

Now there can be no doubt that there have been many who have interprited the new testament incorrectly and tried to turn christianity into their own sect, making it anti semitic. Is this right though? and why is the new testament looked upon as so anti semitic?

Paul especially is attacked, because he started the thrust of an idea that simple faith through christ alone is enough for salvation. Now obviously if you are a follower of christ, it would seem logical that if a God did influence the Bible, it would not allow any writings it did not see proper to ender into the word of God, so why do so many people attack paul?

I just dont like how people take the messages of the new testament, and blame it for all the anti semitism which was created later by those who interprited it wrong. Paul simply teached that christ Was the fulfillment of the commandments, and that we follow christ now who has fulfilled the laws. Anti semitic? I honestly dont think so in my opinion.

It means against/opposed to the Jews or Judaism.

TMA, again, you should read the Book of Hiram, which has some neat things to say on the issue, among others (some of which you may not agree with, but it's interesting nonetheless).  They argued that the "Pauline Jews" were the first to officially start Christianity, whereas even after the death of Christ, the followers of Jesus still regarded themselves as Jews.  In a sense, in this respect, Paul could be considered the "founder" of Christianity.  But I don't think this alone would constitute anti-semitism.

so why do so many people attack paul?

because the last thing satan wants is for people to believe that belief in christ is salvation.

So he will stir the pot to make trouble and hope that he can make christ's sacrifice be in vain.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: a book as large, rambling and archaic as the Bible can be used to support or oppose nearly anything, even opposing sides of the same argument.

Well, the semitic peoples are those who originate from certain parts of the middle east (I can't remember the geographical extent of the groups it concerns). Semitic languages include Hebrew and Arabic. Antisemitism has more recently been used to specifically refer to hatred of Jews or Judaism, but this is not an accurate definition.

Most possibly is this term from Spain, where moroccan Arabs were treated same as Jews after reconquista. As other nations knew commonly only Jews, it was spread only for them.

hehe I should read that van man, you have told me a lot about it, and as long as the comments are relavent, intelligent and entertaining (that is actually pretty picky.lol) I dont mind at all what it says against my beliefs, and from what you have told me there are lots o'good ideas. Ill check it out.

lol, ace. To somebody who doesnt believe and frankly seems to not want to believe, it is understandable you see it that way. The english language has largely raped the word of god.

Paul was indeed a devout Jew. Heck, he was considared a rising star in the jewish community, one that hated christians. He himself said he was the king of sinners (referring to his wholesale slaughter of many christians before he converted). It is rather beautiful and ironic how hte lord used one like Paul to do his work on this earth. I cant see how it could be anti semitic.
