1. Plant a thumper, the stand some way off.

2. When you see a worm coming, move (without rhythm, of course) so that your line of sight to the thumper is perpendicular to the direction of the approach of the worm. Remember to keep off the drum sands.

3. As the worm passes, run up at an angle, so you are not taken aback by the motion crossways before you.

4. Insert your maker hooks and lever up one of the segments.

5. When you have reached the top, insert more hooks so you can both control the direction, and ensure that the worm does not submerge.

6. When you get off, don't go too far back: the oxygen at the back end, coupled with the movement makes it a fire hazard.
