Winning faster does not mean that there has not been a war. Neither does minimising casualties.

If the enemy is crippled without much resistance, how is that a war? All wars before and including the early-mid 20th century were prolonged conflicts between distinct powers, so I define war as a prolonged conflict. If a squadron of fighter jets were told to initiate a surgical strike on an enemy and consequently wiped them out, would that be a war? Hardly not.

I define war as any open conflict between two or more nations. Surgical strikes or not. That's why the poorly-advised 'Iraq war' was a war, and not a historical blip.

The Cold War shows that western powers does not go to war unless it is necessary. we do not want war! we are going towards a time without wars...

The cold war showed that self-preservation is very high on the list of priorities and that nobody wanted to be blown up by a nuclear missile. They didn't avoid war because they wanted to they avoided war because it would have been too costly. And I don't just mean in financial terms.

Just to let you all know that "technically" we do not go to "war" anymore.  They are called Armed Conflicts.  But it is all propoganda that the newspapers just ignore.  And Britain is involved in many "secret" Armed Conflicts that don't really get publicised, not just Iraq but almost everywhere in the world.

They are not top-secret, they just don't get noticed.
