It is boxing day and I need a new monitor.

I looked at the 2 big stores and there are two monitors that I would choose from.

The one I bought (but am uncertain whether to keep) is a

View Sonic E90B 19 inch (18 veiwable) CRT monitor.

.23 mm horizontal dot pitch

1792*1344 max res

3 year warranty.

for $220 without tax

The other one is a NEC 17 inch flat screen (not monitor, but the screen)

Think this is the one:

A good monitor I read about is the LG flatron L152B,

it includes software called flatview, which allows you to set the colours to exactly what your printer prints out.

Which is good for video editing etc.

The NEC has a narrower dot pitch which will make the picture clarity better. But before you buy it, get the shop to connect it up and check for bad pixels, IE bad pixels.

These are black dots where the pixels are missing.

The maximun resolution of the Viewsonic is better [ if you need it ], and the 66hz refresh rate is gon'na kill your eyes on the NEC. And the refurbished behind it means that it's a used monitor that has been turned in to NEC for a defect. That has been made and now they are selling it again. [ That or a show model ].

Think this are the specs for your Viewsonic monitor. Of the 2 you mentioned I think you might have the best one.

Why are you second guessing at this point ?

I was second guessing because the NEC is a flatscreen. (not flat monitor) flatsceens are usually better. (?)

But so far it looks like I will be keeping the viewsonic 19inch.

Thanks for the help, and post any more if you feeel like it.

Yah the 90 warranty compared to the 3 years was also a killer. Would like to have a monitor with my 3 year warranty on my computer. (which it has)

I also like flatscreens more then the older CRT-screens.

Although with the 2 monitors you mentioned. .think the "normal" screen monitor has more desierable things. :)

I personaly dislike flatscreen monitors, LCD, PLasma monitors and TVs, they don't seem to hav e that good of resolution and it seams the contrast is screwed up if aren't looking directly at it.
