I don't know if this has been posted before but I found this on a website:

Set a couple centuries before the movie Dune and just after the end of the Dune II game, Emperor centers its plot around the three warring factions Atreides, Harkonnen, and Ordos.

Is this right?

Many houses aren't mentioned outside the DE doesn't mean they don't exist. WW used the DE to make their Dune films. I think Ordos is still a proper house. The only thing that messes up Emperor for me is the shields on arrakis.

House Corrino fell due to Paul, not the killing of the Emperor. And Ordos wasn't a House Major so even though they would never have three Houses battle for Arrakis even if they did Ordos wouldn't be part of the battle, nor the Atreides.

Yes, they were a House Minor, not a Major. (Read that in Duniverse sometime back).

And there are a bunch of things that don't fit that are in Emperor that wouldn't work in the novels.

Well if they were a minor house then they were exorbitantly rich for one lol. I think they're something like 7th richest of all the lansraad, but then I'm no expert.

I don't see why you should have to fit Emperor in a specefic part of the Dune timeline. Can't you just accept that Emperor is playing in a copy of the Frank Herbert's Duniverse. And that copy has certain differences with the original timeline.

Emperor is not really based on the books at all. Remember that the game is based off of the movie character wise and the rest is just made up. As for the Ordos it is pretty much all made up by Westwood because there is basically no info other then the name and logo in the DE.

And ordos is a Great House. Not a minor house. that is at least what the de says.

emperor can't be set to a date a little before dune, since the emperor lives in Dune can it?  I think the result of Emperor if we were to follow the real dune time line, would be harkonnen victory. Atreides and Ordos have never got the task of harvesting spice on dune before Dune.
