Apaprently it was screened at aint-it-cools annual Buttanumbathon, adn was a huge hit Everyone seems to have loved it according to all reports from the film festival, although the reviews posted seem to be a wee bit, how shall we say, over zelous. No one found it to be anti-semetic, including the Jews who were present, and Mel himself was there and had a 90 minute Q&A right afterwards.

I'm a little uncertain when it comes to this movie.

The trailers look fantastic, and Mel did an amazing job with Braveheart. I'm not all that concerned witht he anti-semetic aspect, as the only people who claim it's anti-semetic are thsoe who read a very early rough draft that someone stole and have not seen the film. I'm mroe worried about the language barrier. This showing ahd subtitles, but it hasn't been said for sure whether the final version will, and I'm not all that interested in watching a movie that I don't understand at all.

Well, I don't see some antisemitism in it, in fact Jesus was a Jew himself. And not all of the others where against him. Seems to be a good Bible movie, that's a rare thing...

I thought the final version wouldn't have subtitles. The story is supposed to explain better than words or something like that.

Besides, if you can't translate go to the Archdiocese of Ottawa, kidnap a Priest (for the Latin), and then find someone who's doing a masters in a dead language like Aramaic, how hard is that? ;D Or not...

Either way, its on my list of things to watch once it comes out.
