You need to have Win Zip installed, which is a free downloadable app.Well evaluation version is free.

It is possible to copy files and folders in XP over your lan connection.

If you click on start,Accessories/system tools files and settings transfer wizard.

After you installed the updated drivers did you restart your comp ?

If Emp is already installed restart your comp and try it to see if anything has changed ?

If not re-install EMP after re-booting and see if it works then.

Do you know someone that can do a Bios update for you ?

The only difference I can see between your Laptop and your wifes is that you have SIS 651 and your wife SIS 650, apart from your Bios being fairly old.

Well you could try putting the Game Cd in your wifes hard drive, and starting the game from your Laptop, see if it works, navigate through your Laptop to her C drive open the Program files folder and start Emperor by double clicking on the folder, then start exe.

Experiment a bit and see if it will work that way.
