So that you can be encouraged to become a contributive scientist, as if we don't already have enough laywers:D j/k

IMO qualifications for subject choices,schools,e.t.c (not inclu. jobs of course) are a load of (r@p. I know so many people who supposedly couldn't do maths, (and therefore couldn't do accounting) science, e.t.c because they had bad marks at the time and now are doing very well at the fore-mentioned subjects (as they took them anyway)

Such qualifications are a joke... despite marks such as 87% (history), 80% (biology), e.t.c a certain someone *hint hint* does not qualify for grd 11 (std9) because he did not pass Afrikaanse (If you're asking you'reself what that is, then that proves my point that such a qualification is foolish)

I think that anyone should be able to try their hand at higher education... however, such education would incl only education ie: No such thing as sports, cultural activities,e.t.c would have any thing to do with such schools... all rescources of any kind at such schools would go towards education in academic fields. This way, only people truly interested in higher education for the sake of learning would learn at such schools whilst other people interested in such schools for (usually) foolish reasons that are not totally based on better learning would attend regular schools (From my experience, most of the population)

Of course, such schools would be specialized to further minimalize overflow.... some schools would not teach languages of any sort, nor any form of art, only science (natural and human sciences)

A little of topic... sorry

Simply put though, I'd say that anyone should atleast be given a chance to try higher education despite previously poor work because anybody can change... Probably not very practical though

Well, some balance between extreme is always needed. Even if you are a scientist, you need to speak more languages, how would you share your wisdom with other nations? But I think it is important to focus on priorities, not everything, like it is done nowadays.

Agreed, I just thought that specialization in schools would help stop overflow of students into schools (IE: as an issue of practicality, although such a system probably would not be very practical to begin with). Ideoligically speaking, the level of specialization of a students education would be chosen by him

I think yes. But say me what level of education do you mean? I think higher levels should be for those capable.

I agree. University education should be only for those who are serious about it - in other words, those who really study for it.

But my point was that all education should be free. So that no one will be forced to drop out of school or refused the chance to go to university simply because he doesn't have the money to pay for it. There are many young people who are capable and willing to go to university, but can't afford to pay the money and are not eligible for scholarships. This should not be allowed to continue. Your wealth should not be a factor in your education. Do you agree?

Well, you still pay taxes, if not directly to school. Maybe if education can't be economically successful, each school should have own tax collection system based on state's one. Percentual amount from wage, not hard cash. This would fill the holes.

If it works better that way, sure. The technicalities of how exactly a school gets its tax money may depend on the local economic situation. What I'm interested in is that all education should be freely and equally available to all.
