It's a little known fact that you can disable the Autorun feature of the CDROM drive by holding down the shift key when you insert the disk. What I think is wrong about this copy protection is that it gets installed on your hard drive without asking permision to install. Sounds like a trojan virus to me.

Another criticism that's pretty big around here about those copyprotected CD's is that since they can't be played on a computer, studants are getting royally fucked if they buy them, as, for the vast majority of students, there computers are there entertainment center.

And since they can't even legally listen to the music, it actually encourages them to download it.

The autorun function is usually one of the first things I disable in Windows.

Havn't had a CD that is protected that way yet, although I doubt it would work with Linux just a well as with Windows [ the protection part ].

Think some one was really not thinking at the time managment said that's a great technique, let's use it to copy protect our audio CD's with ! .. :P
