IxianMace Posted October 10, 2003 Posted October 10, 2003 Has anyone here that has the full version of Homeworld 2 been able to get past mission 4? I've restarted this mission at least 4 times now, I've tried my hardest, used a few different tactics, but it always comes down to the same thing in the end. I get swamped by a killer rush of assault craft, bombers, lance fighters, laser and missile corvettes, followed up by a huge armada of heavy missile frigates with a few assault frigates as escort.I only managed to clean one asteroid of hyperspace inhibitors, and kill two vaygr carriers before I was rushed, (by that time, my fleet was severely cripped, and I was very low on resources).General tips and help would be appreciated.
Terror Posted October 10, 2003 Posted October 10, 2003 I do not have it. But can you describe homeworld 2? Is it better than the demo? or same?
Khan Posted October 10, 2003 Posted October 10, 2003 I got this game but it didn't come with a CD key and the one I got online didnt work online, so I have to send it back, as for mission 4 what you should do is:[hide] Send bombers to kill the two hyperspace gate to the left and right. Then send a marine frigate to the middle one. Then use it to hyper space him to the rest of the vgayr fleet. take over the hyperspace gate that he arrives at and the enemy should stop attacking you. From there you can use bombers to take out the other inhibitors and the command center.[/hide]
IxianMace Posted October 11, 2003 Author Posted October 11, 2003 I've managed to finish the mission, using a tactic not mentioned here. Thanks for the tips though. :)As for the question about Homeworld 2 compared to the demo, I would say that if you're a fan of Homeworld (the first game in the series), then this is a must buy for you. I finished Homeworld in about 3 days, and the difficulty level of Homeworld 2 compared to Homeworld is much higher. If you don't like extreme micromanagement, then this isn't the game for you. With so many craft whizzing in between each other and heavy crossfire going across the screen, it's easy to lose track of what your units are doing in the heat of battle. The first two missions in Homeworld 2 (including the cutscenes) are exactly the same. I would say the first two missions are pretty much a 'cakewalk', mission 3 really raises the bar from then on. :OFinally, skirmish in Homeworld 2 has all the features enabled (including the ability to play as the Vaygr race), and plenty more maps to play on. The only gripe I have with skirmish is that I was under the impression from the demo, that the drop down menu where your only option to choose from (as far as game type was concerned) was 'Deathmatch'. I thought that since there was a drop down menu, there may have been different types of skirmish games featured in the full version, but it appears that Deathmatch is the only type of skirmish game you can play. :- I think I saw on a review somewhere that there are two types of players in this game. The quick and the dead. You either learn to play very well, or you'll be admiring the spectacular eye candy of your ships blowing up over and over. I think that's quite true in this case. ^-^
Khan Posted October 11, 2003 Posted October 11, 2003 Since I have to return my home world 2 to amazon I decided to get the original on budget. However when I try to play it, it just says please insert valid CD. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Loki Posted October 14, 2003 Posted October 14, 2003 cry? pray? sorry.havta say, you know its a good game when you enjoy watching your entire fleet being blown apart, but even more when you do it to the enemy. anyone agree thata dreadnought type ship would have been nice? although, i suppose the battle cruisers are almost good enough.

Try as I might, HW1 is the ONLY game I can't get to so much as start on XP. :-[
IxianMace Posted October 15, 2003 Author Posted October 15, 2003 That's strange, both games installed amd ran without a hitch on my computer, which is running XP. :)I've finished the single player campaign for Homeworld 2 now. It was one of the most satisfying and enjoyable campaigns I've ever gone through, if not a bit easy, save a select few missions. Onward to map making for Homeworld 2 now. ^-^
