Interesting poll from Gallup:

http://www.gallup.com/poll/releases/pr031008.asp

"In general, do you think the news media is -- too liberal, just about right, or too conservative?"

but:

"In general, how much trust and confidence do you have in the mass media -- such as newspapers, T.V. and radio -- when it comes to reporting the news fully, accurately, and fairly -- a great deal, a fair amount, not very much, or none at all?"

Most people still trust the media it seems.

My hypothesis would be that this thing about liberal medias is really coming from conservative politics it seems. It's the politics that constantly came with "it's the medias, they're too liberal!"

The media should be under more consoring. What they say may be right, it may not (public opinion just about favours the former), but the problem most have with it, I would guess, is that it is too... tacky.

The media's job is to challenge the government and act as a spearhead for social change. Therefore, they are naturally more inclined to be liberal rather than conservative.

Unless they are serving as a government propaganda machine, of course...
