Interesting investigation report made by Mark Bowden. About extreme ways to interrogate *suspected -non confirmed- prisioners, terrorist* that the CIA is using again since 9/11.

I have the transcrip in spanish, which I won't post since any of you (I guess) would read in spanish. Unfortunately the english version is available only for suscribers of The Atlantic online.

However a good interview with Bowden about the article, which I find as much interesting as the article itsefl, can be heard (RPlayer) at (click the listen link):

A written interview (diferent one) :

Finally the spanish version, just in case:

I think it's worth the time to listen it.

The lacetero link also requires registration.

Bowden also describes the forms of coercion the United States is likely employing against captured terrorists: cramped quarters, isolation, sleep deprivation, infrequent meals, and rough handling.

That's it? These people need to hire me and we'll cover how you truly torture persons.

How can the nation permit torture in certain cases without letting it become a "shortcut for a lazy or incompetent investigator"?

You can't.

What I've tried to explain in my article is that the United States is now trying to walk a delicate line between adhering to its international agreements and doing what it feels is justified and necessary to get information.

Every nation walks that line, and every nation has crossed it before, and will do so any time it feels threatened. Humans are more interested in self preservation than honor.

It just so happens that we have an Administration that doesn't seem to have any qualms about pissing off Europe.....Because I think Gore and the Democrats

The CIA knows how to torute Ordos, and it is technically legal for them to torture people who are not American Citizens, but the last time they did it they got in shit, not as much as when they did torutre american citizens, though. There was a good article on this right when they started that prison in cuba for terrorists.

I wouldn't be surprised if the top government officials had another country do the torturing to gain information relevant to the upholding of national security.
