Atomic Mitten
does anyone know whether or not Emperor battle for dune a peer to peer game is or a peer to server game ?Apparently win xp and some other os's prefer peer to server games, so I suspect that Emp is the older peer to peer game.Could this also cause problems connecting to each other on WOL. gryphon
Not shure, but isn't it the same as most of those games. . . client server to get online and into the lobby, and then client client during the game ?
Gobalopper
Yes its client to server to find your partner then client to client once it starts. I think a lot of RTS games use this approach whereas games like FPS' use client to server for obvious reasons.
Atomic Mitten
It's just that I read that this sometimes causes problems connecting older games online, with new OS's.?
gryphon
You mean the client - server or client - client game type ?If programmed correctly I think the OS should not be a factor inorder to play [ or not being able to ] online. There are however a few euh. . .glitches in OS software making the network protocol more reliable in WinNT compared to previous versions. And games in older DOS mode are being handled different on those systems. Although if they game runs on your computer I think that if it is programmed correctly it shouldn't cause any problems.
