What do you feel about the prequels?

a: They have their merit, and are good stand alone stories, but are not to be taken as Dune Cannon.

b: They are fully interweavable in the Dune universe and should be taken as seriously as Frank's work.

c: They are horrible, and do not have the right to have the Dune label attached to them.

d: They are pure fanfiction, but were published due to the status of the fan fiction writers.

e: Other. (It would be good to explain what differences you have from the other questions in your feelings of the prequels if you choose Other.)

Is there a fundimental lack of creativity in the prequels?

a: yes, many of the ideas are unoriginal and sound like they could have come from StarWars.

b: no, they are extremely creative and wouldnt be published if they werent.

c: no, They do however lack the amount of creativity to Frank's writings.

d: Other. (again explain.)

Was Kevin j anderson a bad choice for cowriting the prequels?

a: no, he is highly recognized as a good science fiction writer, especially involving starwars.

b:yes, he writes starwars novels.

c: no, but I would have chosen others.

d: yes, He does not display the qualities needed for writing a duniverse oriented book, and you can pick out the parts in the books that are largely influenced by him.

e: Other, (explain.)

Do you think that Kevin J Anderson and Brian Herbert are given too much heat for their writing of the prequels?

a:yes, the only people who complain about the prequels and the writers are those who are way too inflexable and immature.

b: no, I can understand where complaints arise, but I think it is taken to an extreme.

c: yes, Brian and Kevin have done wonderful jobs with the prequels and those who complain are horrible judges of liturature.

d: no, Brian and Kevin have raped the name of Dune, made profit from it's name and have tried to take credit from frank herbert, even if they dont admit it.

e: Other

In what area do the prequels need work?

a: creativity

b: quality of writing

c: lack of redundancy and un-needed filler

d: continuity with the original works by frank herbert.

e: a combination of the above of your choice, and if needed other ideas you would like to add to the list.

Did you enjoy the prequels?

a: yes, they were fun and are to be read as seperate from frank's work.

b: yes, they are amazing and to be incorperated into the Dune cannon.

c: they were okay, but nothing to be blown away by.

d: No, they were boring, horribly written, and all around bad.

e: No, It just isnt possible to enjoy something written in the name of Dune that hasent been written by frank.

f: Other.

Were these questions unbiased? besides the obvious work on grammer lol, do you have any suggestions as to what I should correct on next time I do a list like this?

you dont have ot answer that, but if you do just give a blurb. Dont post if you hate me and want to find any way you can to complain about me.lol

My answers:

1:a

2:c

3:d (if you have read his other works, it is easy to pick out the stuff he influenced. at least to me)

4:b

5: b, c, and d.

6:a

It is highly suggested that you make comments about why you chose what you have, you dont have to if you dont want to though. I didnt because I have to go right now.lol but I will modify this and give detail to my answers later. :)

1:b I think that they are just as much a part of the duniverse as the other books. because those 6 books are too little to base info on. we need more facts which frank didn't tell about in his books. and didn't Brian and Kevin write it from Franks notes?

2:c no commment

3:b only reason he is, is that I don't like SW because they don't give any credit to dune, when they are based on it.

4a you cant just stick to those old books. as I said we need more info.

5d can't wait for dune7

6b enjoyed the books just as much as franks books. though I liked CoD a bit more

1.A. They have their merit, and are good stand alone stories, but are not to be taken as Dune Cannon.

2. c: no, They do however lack the amount of creativity to Frank's writings.

3. e: Other, (explain.) I have never read any of his books, therefore can not judge, although I think he is good. :)

4. b: no, I can understand where complaints arise, but I think it is taken to an extreme.

Although there trilogies are getting too numerous, and if stopped pumping out books, they could make better books. Frank came out with 6 Dune books over a period of what? 20 years? (I know he wrote others during that time)

5. e: a combination of the above of your choice, and if needed other ideas you would like to add to the list.

6. a: yes, they were fun and are to be read as seperate from frank's work.

And

b: yes, they are amazing and to be incorperated into the Dune cannon.

I found these questions quite interesting and if were expanded into other areas, other than to see how well people like the prequels, it would be even more fun than than it already is.

a: They have their merit, and are good stand alone stories, but are not to be taken as Dune Cannon.

The stories are quite good, and are quite Dunically, but they still miss some things

Is there a fundimental lack of creativity in the prequels?

c: no, They do however lack the amount of creativity to Frank's writings.

Many things are creative, but some things are ripped off other stories (like the no-ship trick of the Harkonnen (Star Trek VI))

Was Kevin j anderson a bad choice for cowriting the prequels?

d: yes, He does not display the qualities needed for writing a duniverse oriented book, and you can pick out the parts in the books that are largely influenced by him.

True, you can see it in their epiloques. Brian Herbert seems like a smart person, who understood much of his fathers work.

Do you think that Kevin J Anderson and Brian Herbert are given too much heat for their writing of the prequels?

b: no, I can understand where complaints arise, but I think it is taken to an extreme.

The books are good. But they are not as good as the Dune's. People seem to forget that

In what area do the prequels need work?

b: quality of writing

Too much repetition of facts, for example

Did you enjoy the prequels?

a: yes, they were fun and are to be read as seperate from frank's work.

Exactly what I think

Were these questions unbiased? besides the obvious work on grammer lol, do you have any suggestions as to what I should correct on next time I do a list like this?

No, you made a good list. I found all my answers between the options

Let's first say that I read like 2 minutes of the prequels and threw them away. Now, let's answer:

d: They are pure fanfiction, but were published due to the status of the fan fiction writers.

a: yes, many of the ideas are unoriginal and sound like they could have come from StarWars.

e and b: Other: He is a pop-writer, as Britney Spears is a pop-singer. It's not the same as Dune, and closer to X-Files or Star Wars (which have their own merits for distraction but aren't Dune). Perhaps he also eats Pop-Tarts.

d: no, Brian and Kevin have raped the name of Dune, made profit from it's name and have tried to take credit from frank herbert, even if they dont admit it.

e: a combination of a, b, c, and d, AND (to truly not only be fanfiction) being written while being very attached to Frank's ideas. Otherwise, it can't pass the level of fanfiction (even if it still CAN give a good product... un-Dune product).

f: Other: I don't really care how they are from the moment I know they wont bring something to my person as Frank Herbert's work did.
