EDIT - When I zip the files not in a folder I do not get this thumbs.db file. So I will be doing it that way. (but it seems when I zip a folder I get this file)

When I zip my files, I seem to get a new file added into it called Thumbs.db . When I try to unzip thumbs.db it doesnt appear. It doesnt even appear in the folder I am about to zip. It is 300 some kb, and the avatars are only 130kb or so. when I am in the folder I am about to zip it says the # of files and size of them total. (which is about 130 kb) I then go back to where the folder icon is and click properties and it says 526 kb and has one more file.

even after I unzip the contents it does not appear.

I have my settings to view all files except system files i think. It has done this all along when I submitted zip files using WinRAR. (even after formatted computer, virus scans and such.)

Help?

I will be posting the zipped file sometimes soon (today?) and then you may be able to figure it out from it. Just do not want to have to upload an extra 300kb for no reason.[attachment archived by Gobalopper]

Before you zipped the files, did you watch them, or have a preview ? It creates this file (thumbinal view) and places it in the same directory as the files you viewed. I think you selected that file when you zipped the (image) files you wanted to be zipped.

It's save to delete though :)

you have the same result if you have a tunmbnail view of files on a diskette. They file thumbs.db will be created and visible on that disk. Thought that even with visible system files there is no tumbs.db file in the usuall folders [ on an NTFS file system ]. It's hidden in the Windows properties. [ although not shure ]

So your saying do not have the folder settings on thumbnail (or be previewing an image) when zipping the files?

Odd how it worked even though I had the settings on thumbnail, but did not include a folder in the zip file.

When you select a folder that you ones have view in thumbnail mode the file thumb.db will be in there. When you just select the files out of the folder to zip it won't be in the zip.

If you wouldn't want it in the zip-file you can simply delete it from it without any harm to the zip or the files in it.
