I have always laughed at this.

I will talk to people and they will bring up in conversation a person who wears dark clothes, who waers black makeup, listens to depressing music and pretends to hate the world. With that same breath that person will express ther sincere desire to meet that person because they seem really "deep".

I cant begin to count how many times I have talked with this sort of person. Sometimes, very rarely, a person in this group really is deep, and these types of people are actually really cool to get to know, most of them though are another shade of prepp.

a couple days ago I talked to this person that my friend said is deep. When we began to talk, he brought to the plate his concerns on his performance in bed, how much he hates the conservitives, and his love for tool, manson, and other groups of the sort.

I asked him why he hates conservitives and he seemed to have good answers, but they seemed to be too typical so I probed further and come to find out he recieved all of his tactics against conservitives from various agenda filled websites and magazines. There wasent any shread of originality in this guy and that is sad!

It seems that so many people now days have this conception that if you act "against the grain", you must dress in mourning clothes. You must also hate anybody of the majority, whatever majority may be. and so many other vapid things that it is just sad.

has anybody ever noticed this? and why should clothes and makeup matter? many people say they feel comfortable in it. Why though? they are made of cotton, synthetics, and fabrics that any other clothing is made of. is it comfortable to conform against conformity? lol I dont know, I just think it is silly.

While clothing can be a good way to send a message, I just wear whatever fits me and goes together as my low sense of fashion tells me. I'm not picky, although I love to wear combat boots ;D

I wear black usually because it is almost impossible to look bad in black. It doesn't really mean anything... although it does keep me warm.

Personally I've always seen make-up, etc as a form of self-decoration; suitable really only for social get-togethers like parties or nights out. It doesn't mean anything but a desire for people to look either good or better.

I can't comment on why people dress provocatively or the way they do, simply because I do not know. Perhaps they want to annoy you personally?

hehe yes black is my favorite color to wear because as you say, it just is less revealing of everything than white or lighter colors. plus I just think it is a lot mellower than lighter colors as odd as that sounds.

People dont usually wear the flamboyant "gothic" type clothes to piss peopel off. Though it is a common thing to do, usually from what I have seen, many of them do it as some sort of statement. as I said conforming against conformity.

My opinion:

I wear the clothes I like. And so I think everyone does. When you don't care you still look different then the people who do.

So clothes tell me how people want to look. But not in what kind of mood they are or something

you really think it is that simple? you mean you have never met somebody that wore clothes for some sort of agenda.

Well, if even if you do that. Like you wear clothes for a conference. You wear neat clothes because you want to look good to show confidence in yourself

I wear a lot of black, grey and dark colours, and have done for years, partly because I'm colourblind, and partly because I don't like looking too informal. I have always frowned on makeup and similar as a waste of time, money and effort. Some people do seem to wear certain things to project an image about themselves - not just black, but also all sorts of things - bright colours, jeans with holes in (bought like that new! Honestly, have you ever heard of anything more ridiculous?)... Wear things because they are practical and appropriate. Anything else is verging on dishonesty.

no no I wasent just picking on people who wear black, I figured you guys would understand that I was pointing to any group who uses clothes to make some sort of statement. I think that using clothes and other silly mediums for it is like a person who doesnt know how to use sarcasm. those who dont often overdo it and make fools of themselves because of their lack of words, or just plain stupidity. If you need clothes to speak for you, then yikes.

And what of shirts and pants with images of what we love? I have a Rammstein t-shirt, is that so bad? Or how about a white t-shirt with the word ATHEIST in big black bold letters? ;)

oh heck the athiesm shirt is nothing. what really condemns you is that rammstein shirt. they are even the laughing stock of germany.lol they arent talented man, you have intelligence, and good taste in many things. why ruin it on such a group. ;)

my friend's brother lived all around europe for about 4 years. a year in germany. He was a pop star over there. That may sound nuts, but its true. He was in the group 5 NY. You can download their songs off kazaa or other download places. His name is sean christensen. He said that rammstein is only popular to the neo nazi types and punks. That most of the music community over there looks at them as a joke.Frankly if you find them talented, then you should really enjoy britany speares. they are all the same in my opinion anyway. hehe

Maybe you should think for yourself and listen to their music on your own, and not make your friend's "brother" make your music choices for you ::)

its a silly assumption to think I havent. I disliked them even before I knew my friend's brother.lol should keep the thread on subject though. there are some things that you would think I am weird for liking, so I guess to each his own. :)
