So... Sub-houses are now playable on PC, eh? So here's my little secret :D Back in October 2011, I've played a little with editing Dune 2000 for PSX. And I discovered that if I change the bytes from e.g. Ordos to Smugglers, the game didn't crash. So I was like "I can finally play as any sub-house!" :) So I started modding, but I kept it quiet. I wanted to give Dune 2000 PSX fans a huge surprise with new levels, units etc... I have made 5 fully functioning missions with Smugglers (and A/B maps). And had 6th mission in progress. But... I was too lazy to continue. What a lazy fool I am. P.S. - Modding D2K for PSX is a pain in the a** :D

Some months ago, I started modding Dune 2000 for PSX. Had some levels finished, but I quited modding it, even don't know why. But I have these files lying somewhere on my HDD. It would be a very good mod if I wasn't too lazy to work on it :D Maybe someday...

err... i will take a look on the section(s) which i wrote in the txt file below (in ascii) any idea what it can be? there are many values like these in each mis file. and... have you started working on map editor, mvi? Nov

mvi, why didnt you update the mis file spec topic with my "who is p. 1 etc.."? and devasta, you can change even harkonnen to be atreides, so if you change any player to fremen, you can have fremen in every mission! HAHA!

yeah but every house and every mission has its own coding. and player 4 are always fremen if you wont change it!!

What?? and i tried to have no sounds, but i wasnt succesful. any other ideas? and amigabot : what are the chances to find him? and when you played with subhouses - which logo you got????

cant open with sound forge, any other ideas? P.S. - tried to edit the dat and rs file in hex editor, game did not crash, but nothing happened. if we can have your friend here, amigabot, we would be kings of dune 2000 modding...

It was a logical searching. i wanted to solve the emperor/fremen problem, so i tried this, it worked, and tried to edit other values, and it worked. amigabot, when you and your friend were playing with sub-houses, you did control units, right?

if you change e.g. player 1 to smugglers, you must change player 5 to atreides.

so each mission file holds this data. i mean who is player 1 etc. so, for first, when you select to play as atreides (or play atreides missions), you are p.1. harkonnen - p.2 ordos - p.3 in mis files, go to the offset : 0000:0050. this data is from 0000:0050 to 0000:0057 0000:0050 - who is p.1 51 - p.2 52 - p.3 53 - p.4 55 - p.5 56 - p.7 57 - p.8 which value for which side : Atreides - 00 Harkonnen - 01 Ordos - 02 Emperor - 03 (or 04? i dont know) Fremen - 04 (or 03? i dont know...) Smugglers - 05 Mercenaries - 06 Other (white brown or CHOAM) - 07 e.g. - 0000:0050 - if you rewrite 00 (e.g. A1V1.mis) to 05, you have got brown base and units. BUT!!! we cant control units YET, because the game has no idea which sound to use as reporting!! but we can build base!! and if you want to make a mission with all 7 houses (Other doesnt have buidling and unit values in map file), type 00 01 02 03 04 05 06 07. take the fremen and the emperor values from Map Special Values topic and build an AI base (but AI wont do any action...yet)

mercenary palace is yellow ordos palace. they cant train saboteurs. only if you edit with tibed : sabouteur : owner : ordos, mercenary i can post a screenshot of this palace if you want. and we can add the emperor into the A4V1. take the emperor values from the first post. becuse many missions are using the fremen values instead of emperor. i will try to find out how this system works - emperor/fremen.

i just sent all atreides and emperor/fremen buildings and units in hex valuesto mvi... tomorrow i will start working on ordos etc.

i tried to edit skirmish.uil to show all 8 colors, but with no result... but to tell truth, i dont understand these files... i understand only a little

if you use only mainmenu.uil from czech patch, you get the same. all is in english, you know.
