  1. If you mean turret with loop then this is intentional to mark them as dead husks.
  2. The latest Dune 2000 improvements have been promoted to a new stable release:
  3. I recently found some that really look like AAA I want to try out soon http://www.zeroballistics.com/http://www.thedarkmod.com/http://www.warsow.net/and some more retro like, but with a twist, written in Luahttp://tangramgames.dk/games/mrrescue/http://stabyourself.net/mari0/
  4. As R16 is afaik only used in single-player, they could have gone away with no remapping at all.
  5. This has been finally fixed https://github.com/OpenRA/OpenRA/pull/4268 and will be shipped in the upcoming stable release.
  6. Updated documentation on what we know about http://d2kplus.com/wiki/index.php?title=DATA.R8#Palettes now.
  7. What is the benefit of using those files? Are they already documented?
  8. Paul is making some cool progress on using the original shroud tiles:
  9. Mostly, but I am not sure if the repository is still updated. I got some more recent source code parts that were not yet perfectly polished sent exclusively via e-Mail (Thanks!). In fact there is already a collaboration in place. This whole OpenD2k undertaking would not have been where it is today without mvi although he never directly sent a patch. His reverse engineering, documentation and consulting helped a lot. Added your suggestions to our tracker at https://github.com/OpenRA/OpenRA/issues/4280https://github.com/OpenRA/OpenRA/issues/4281
  10. You could create a feature request for that at http://bugs.open-ra.org linking some documentation. We need to know how the MIS file formats is defined and what these triggers do to re-implement them in Lua. Another feature we are still missing is a legacy http://d2kplus.com/wiki/index.php?title=Map_Files conversion which we only have for RA95 and CnC Gold.
  11. We currently lack any legacy trigger support and there is no automatic conversion to Lua scripts (yet).
  12. http://open-ra.org/news/playtest-20131209/ is probably good news for all Dune nostalgics here: We now support most of the Dune II file formats. This is a screenshot from an unofficial fan project showing off our new asset browser and SHP(D2) sprites. The soft edges in Dune 2000 spice tiles are now rendered properly.
  13. Nope, OpenRA does not have a project like http://dev.openttdcoop.org/projects/opengfx probably because the pressure is too low as the files are all freeware.
  14. Oh and you are linking Glest, but the fork still in development is http://megaglest.org here. Also SpringRTS is more like a project like OpenRA which reimplements a classic game engine. You probably want something like http://zero-k.info/ in your list instead. As you can see, I am also pretty much obsessed with this topic. :)
  15. I see. In that case have a look at http://www.urbanterror.info/ which is inspired by Counter-Strike, but using the Quake 3 engine with their own assets. Also the various http://osgameclones.com/#Minecraft-clones which sometimes even predate the popular commercial title which itself is just an Infiniminer clone. http://simutrans.com also fits better into your list as it is not a clone like OpenTTD, but something that started with own assets and ideas in the first place.
  16. http://osgameclones.com/ features an ever growing list as you can contribute your findings there. I miss http://open-ra.org (Dune 2000, Command & Conquer: Tiberian Dawn and Red Alert), http://rttr.info which reimplements Settlers II as well as the various projects which reimplement Dune II like http://dunelegacy.sourceforge.net, http://www.opendune.org and http://dunedynasty.sourceforge.net on your list. For Dungeon Keeper this Starcraft II mod looks pretty cool http://www.moddb.com/mods/hive-keeper
  17. Again an update which might also interest Dune 2000 modders: http://www.moddb.com/games/openra/news/playtest-20131130 The new sandboxed Lua support allows you to create single-player missions and new game modes using the current industry standard scripting language for gaming. Also sprite loading and the asset browser have been improved.
  18. Latest playtest release provides many bug-fixes as well as additional UI polishing, including a new settings menu, overhauled chat, and improved hotkey support. Go test it and report bugs so they can be squashed in an upcoming stable release.
  19. While working on the movement flash https://github.com/OpenRA/OpenRA/pull/3999 we discovered palettes being placed inside the R8 and now try to parse and use those, too. The shroud (palette) is still a mystery to us though.
  20. The welding animations and the crumble falling of the buildings is also some extra polish new in this release. Most RA improvements like the new music player and observer stats also translate into the D2k mod as I did not reinvent the UI completely.
  21. and a small video review by aKaFedaYkin. To answer his questions:The Ordos deviator owner change is permanent.Search Wikipedia/Google to find about what "ports" are. If you are behind a router that supports UPnP go to settings and check [x] "Enable Network Discovery (UPnP)", restart, "Create Game" and check [x] "Automatic port forwarding" to allow people to connect to your game. Otherwise http://portforward.com is your friend.Hint: the AI is producing very effectively, but it will mindlessly throw everything it got towards your base after it amassed an army. Use long-range weapons like artillery and turrets against it. Don't let it grow strong as it builds and fires super weapons.
  22. Thanks to mvi who did most of the reverse engineering and donated a lot of source code to make this whole undertaking possible, we are now mentioned on his site http://d2kplus.com/ which will hopefully increase the available players (and maybe even some contributors) for OpenRA's d2k mod.
  23. The upcoming ingame lobby chat https://github.com/ScottNZ/OpenRA/compare/irc will make it easier to find people to play the other mods. For now I suggest you use http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=openra to find opponents.
  24. No, the d2k http://d2kplus.com/wiki/index.php?title=Palette_BIN was already identical to C&C formats and just renamed. We now support http://d2kplus.com/wiki/index.php?title=SOUND.RS including WAVhttp://d2kplus.com/wiki/index.php?title=MOUSE.R8http://d2kplus.com/wiki/index.php?title=DATA.R8 with additive blending for translucent overlaysand the http://d2kplus.com/wiki/index.php?title=Tile_Sets R8 files (combined into one ARRAKIS)
