I think I had the most fun with the first piece too "I rain lightning death on your head!" Though I must admit being the first shooter game I ever played the Programmer was super hard for me to kill just so I could get it.

Actually the first "thinker" game was Strife which was the last game made to use the Doom engine. You interacted with characters, dialogue that you chose actually impacted the game, their was a fully fleshed out story involving a resistance movement taking on a well equipped religious government that are ruling over the remnants of the human race. It was a very good and innovative game but came out at on of those bad transitional phases in gamingdom, and so got ignored. If you are ever interested in it you can download it at www.the-underdogs.org but you need DOS to run it (I think I might be wrong). Oh yeah, the Sigil is the best weapon in any shooter game, EVER.

Tau are AWESOME! I totally forgot about the fish heads. I just love their guns and technology, mainly because it doesn't have the archaic of just about all the other technology in the universe and not to mention they are the only race that is could be considered good in nature. Although the humans are the protagonists and the Emperor is awesome, I just don't like them because they are all bigots, same with the Eldar. Orks are cool because they just don't care they are happy as long as they are fighting the Nids and the Crons are cool because they just want to eat or kill everything, Chaos is just awesome in general Deamon Hunter (though human) are cool. Though if I were to pick a favorite space marine chapter it would probably be the Dark Angels.

Their os also a Fantasy version of the game with the same name minus the 40k for those who like swords instead of guns. My favorite race would have to be the Necrons in 40k they just have so much cool backstory and the models look really cool. My other favorites are Chaos(of course), Orks, and the Tyranids. My Favorite fantasy races are the Skaven and the Lizardmen, of yeah and Chaos(of course).

As much as I disagreed with your oppinion I see now why you thought the way you did, I play that damn game myself and damned if I can't beleive how much money it takes to play, but damn, its fun and strategical too!

No offense but anybody stupid enough to let you get away with 20 grunts and a cheiftan deserves death. Besides anyone who can micromanage effectivley can destroy your louded group of units easily, Grunts are the best basic trooper in the game but they can be matched by the other races if they use the right strategies. I find it much more benneficial to creep with the opponents units over the creeps themselves (quicker exp gain, hurt your opponent). I play Undead and can use Liches to deadly effect especially on peons and on your lines of supply. No gold, no grunts, sure you might have a hero but he is probably bogged down defending the base or trying to do the same with me, which I plan for since my ghouls can tie the hero up until my hero TP's back and helps kill yours, then your really behind. Even if you were to some how pull off all those grunts a good player is keeping tabs on you and planning accordingly if I come at your 20 grunts and Tauren chieftan with a bunch of crypt fiends using the kiting tactic those grunts will die in short order, and your hero will die because I'lll double or triple team him with my own. Even then it also depends if your opponent can micromanage a battle effectively, lets say 20 grunts/chieftan vs. another 20 grunts/chieftan fight each other, if one commander can control hi units well enough to prevent run arounds and targeting the troops with the least hp first he can quickly outnumber you and gain the advantage, not to mention what he could be doing with his hero. The ammount of tactics involved in Warcraft III goes beyond just simple number, yes they have a role too, but even if you only play with one type of unit, if you are master of getting the most out of that unit, you are still a great tactician, you shouldn't limit your idea of tactics to the terms of number of units alone, but control of those units, All RTS's look the same from a distance, its how you manage your units and counter your opponents own moves where you start finding tactics.

Awesome, a sequel finally, by the by do they still sell Earth 2150 and Moon in stores?

Just about any Squaresoft game that doesn't have the words Final Fantasy in the title could be considered an underatted game like Live A Live, Treasure Hunter G, and Secret of Evermore (though some of you might disagree with me on Secret. Though popular I consider Earthbound to be an underatted game considering many people have never heard of it. Total Annihalation and its counterpart Kingdoms are passed over gems as well. The Earth 2150 games were incredible (I get to design my own units? YAY!!!). I don't know if this game was popular because I just recently acquired it but Sanitarium was an awesome RPG. I am also making and guess at this game but Arcanum is very cool Diablo style game with a very unique aproach to the traditional fantasy genre (dwarves,elves,etc...). Considering all the Emperor lovin going around (can't imagine why ;) I'll proudly jump on that bandwagon (hell I was on the Red Alert 2 forums for months proclaiming its greatness, got alot of flames though).

Make no mistake when ever I joined these boards I had no intention of saying that Warcraft 3 is better than Emperor I just think they stand on equal ground in my oppinion, besides what kind of loser joins a community just so he can bash a game that the rest of the community loves? (not saying I was bashing Emperor just making an observation) Which I must also add in I am real glad I found these boards ever since Westwood dropped the ones on their site, I get to reminesce about the fun I had playing the game, albeit in single player but if I ever get the chance to reinstall the game that might change, don't know if multiplayer would be worth it now though. On to the topic at hand, though I may get steam for this, Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge are overatted games in my oppinion, mainly because they killed the serious atmoshpere of the previous installation and it was simply a mad dash for lots of tanks to kill the enemy, though some strategy could be found.

Hmmmm...I still don't get why. Warcraft 3 has so much enphasis on managing your units that they created probably (in my oppinion) the best interface I have seen in a game, the hotkeys are smart and the amount of control you have over your units is unequalled. The fact that for pretty much the whole game there is something to do (the very much annoying build up phase is removed with your heroes hunting for creeps) almost makes the game. Not to mention the amount of strategy involved because you might be able to rush at blinding speed but if you do not manage your units as effectively as the guy your rushing you will lose. sure the learning curve is a little bit annoying (took me a month) but Warcraft 3 is unlike other RTS games and for what it accomplished it should be recognized.

It is a great game if you can find a the old game, if not you can try the revised version both of them are very fun and the revised game fixed alot of problems from the first edition.

I am a little confused as to why you think Starcraft and Warcraft 3 are overrated games when they are probably the two best RTS's ever made.
