Goal: Gipuzkoa: The smallest province of the Basque Country, in Spain. In 1930 it had one of the biggest densities of railroads in Europe.
Author's Comments: GIPUZKOA is a very little province of the Basque Country, in the nord of Spain, near France.
It's a mountainous region, so, the construction of railroads has great difficulty.
Nevertheless, in 1930 Gipuzkoa had a very complete network of narrow-gauge railways, that connected all its valleys and towns.
The capital of the province is Donostia-San Sebastián. The most important cities are Irún, Eibar, Rentería, Tolosa, Arrasate, Zarautz, Bergara, and the town of Pasaia, around the harbour, that is formed by four districts: Pasai San Pedro, Donibane, Pasai Antxo and Trintxerpe.
Gipuzkoa is, simultaneously, a region with much agriculture and cattle, but also with many industries, mainly of the metal.

Goal: George Hudsons Midland Railway, 1844. Build your web and see what you catch.
Author's Comments: George Hudson created the Midland Railway in 1844, and through his financial shenanigans with railway stocks, became known as the Railway King.
His reign was brief: after his accounting practices were exposed in 1849, he was ousted from control of the empire he had created. But the Midland went on to become one of the great railways of Britain. This scenario is (loosely) modeled on those times.
The idea is to expand your company, by takeovers and share dealings; or you can do it by building your own track, and competing with the other lines.
Your task is to get the Midland into the big cities of England: Birmingham, London, Manchester, Bristol, and Lancaster (representing Scotland & the North). You can build, or you can wheel & deal: it's up to you. Have fun!

Goal: It's 1829, and plans for a railway between Newcastle & Carlisle are being put into progress. Can you guide this, the largest railway project of its time, to prosperity?
Author's Comments: The Newcastle & Carlisle map is loosely based on historical fact, a vague reenactment of the building of the Newcastle & Carlisle Railway beginning in 1829.

Author's Comments: This is my second attempt to make Scandinavia more realistic, and with more details. All major lakes, rivers and mountains are added. More than 250 towns and cities are added. So, in this map it is a possibility to have 9-31 opponents. The industry has been created almost as it is in the real life.
The new issue in this version its the events. 321 events(happenings) has been added to the map. The map has been like a campaign. But it is 70% more happenings here than it is at the whole rr2cd. All the events has been created as a history book. All the serious things who happened between 1814-(1996)2014 has been added. And all effects has been changed after the happenings. Eks: A general strike-all and productions stops! The first and second war its added with a high detail news from the wars. The map will not be easy to win, and that was my ability. You must learn about the history, and manage your companies wisely. Not make the same mistake as many serious people did throw the history.
The big challenge its to make a railroad track over the mountains in the southern part of Norway, as it is in real life. Its many big mountains to cross, so its not gonna be easy. The real track goes from Oslo-Finse (highest station in the northern part of Europe)-Bergen.

Goal: Build railroads in these two beautiful pearls of the Mediterranean Sea.
Author's Comments: This map has been created using an image in grayscale. The only thing you have to do is to enjoy yourself.

Goal: Las Islas Baleares / Illes Balears.

Goal: Establish Italian industry and deliver via the Alpine tunnels factories and the grape of Monferrato's vineyards.
Author's Comments: Northern Italy is the most industrialised and prosperous part of the country. This scenario covers the western half of this area and is almost completely ringed by mountain ranges of which the Alps dominate. The neighboring countries are France and Switzerland with Germany beyond. Several rail tunnels were cut though the mountains to facilitate trade - Frejus, Simplon and Saint Gotthard. Since they were bored there has been a plethora of tunnel building for road traffic.
Agriculture varies a good deal and we have tried to be retain the flavor of the various regions.
Produce = fruit or grapes.
Distilleries = wine producers.
Mineral resources are rare or were worked out so you will have to establish trade routes. Many Italian industries appear by name, some well known like Fiat and Pirelli, others less well known but no less important.

Goal: The Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway had its roots in the Manchester area and South Yorkshire.
It also part-owned the Cheshire Lines Committee (CLC). From these foundations you will have to build a trans-Pennine route over Woodhead and expand East and West.
As the 20th century approached the MSLR had eyes on an Extension to London and changed its name to the Great Central Railway. All this of course is in the future, and you are in charge.
Author's Comments: This scenario embraces events from half a century that have been fitted into a more playable 20-25 years (depending on how good you are!). The MSLR arose from separate roots on both sides of the Pennines that were connected by a line over Woodhead. The gradients were quite stiff and a difficult tunnel had to be cut through the highest ground between Woodhead and Dunford Bridge. This has been simplified.
As the company developed in E-W directions it acquired a one-third share in the Cheshire Lines Committee, a railway that operated in Cheshire and Lancashire. A new direct line between Liverpool and Manchester was one of its developments. Most major cities had more than one station and the MSLR & CLC operated out of Manchester London Road (nowadays called Manchester Picadilly) and Manchester Central (hint!).
Eventually the MSLR decided to expand southwards via the London Extension. That was opened in 1899 and only the early stages fall in the scope of this scenario. When connection with the Capital was imminent the MSLR changed its name to the Great Central Railway.

Goal: Central Europe could all be yours if you play your rails right! Britian and France allow you in but you need to negotiate with the others.
Author's Comments: I've made some improvements in this map from Pop Top.

1) un-disabled Tire Factory (and discovered there were already several cities set up to have one)
2) fixed Book Value popup
3) fixed various reserve cells --- Update: various reserve cell fixes, smoothed ground slightly near Barcelona.

Goal: Work this German short-line railroad as a dispatcher for thirty days in 1982, and prove your logistical talents.
Author's Comments: Set in 1982, this map recreates 30 days of the history of the Vorwohle - Emmerthaler Eisenbahn (VEE) in Lower Saxony, Germany. As the dispatcher of the railroad, the player needs to direct his train so that most shipments requested by customers will be made on time.

Goal: This is a map of Central Scotland. Featuring many villages & towns including the famous U.F.O. triangle (Bonnybridge, Falkirk and Slamannah).
Author's Comments: This is my updated map of Central Scotland which I think is far better than my first attempt.

Goal: Build as many rails as you can and make the most money.
Author's Comments: This map is a map about Germany. You can play this map with 5 Computer-Players. You can lay tracks only in the territories of Germany. You can't build in Poland, Denmark and so on... You have many cities and many industries. I hope you enjoy this map...

Goal: The challenges were many during the early years of railroading in Austria. The Alps are not the only barrier in your quest to be a Railroad Tycoon.
Author's Comments: The main goals of the map are listed below. There are in excess of 50 different groupings of events with most of them several levels deep offering a smorgasbord of different tasks and requirements.
Provide the "Sudbahn" connection between Wiener Neustadt and Marburg. Build a minimum amount of rail lines or invest in industry and fulfill a minimum hauling requirement.
Deal with the events surrounding the Revolution of 1848.
Keep the Monarchy and the Public happy.
Provide service to the logging/lumber, iron/metal and coal industries.
Try to connect to all the other Provinces and deliver the required loads.
Have no company debt and have the highest PNW.
The map in general, deals with the early development of railroads in Styria which was part of the former Austrian Monarchy. An effort was made to accurately portray the period's historic and turbulent events into this map's game play however, the city names, provinces and most borders are represented as they are presently.
Even though this map is playable for players of all levels of playing experience, it is recommended for experienced players. It is also suggested that for more stimulating game play, to select all eight computer players and to select the expert level. This map will keep a player busy and one should be prepared for many hours of eventful game play. The player will experience many decision making events. Not all choices offered are necessary helpful and some will even ensure an early game exit. Therefore, one needs to be focused on ruthlessly following the overall map goals and balancing it with fostering good relations with the Monarchy and the public. With the multitude of concurrent tasks a players task managing skills will also be challenged and to make notes while playing might be very helpful.
The laying of track for most connections is fairly easy following the valleys through the mostly mountainous region. However, route finding might be more of an challenge due to the heavily wooded areas.

Goal: King Speedy hunts for "Alci" by the whole north Germany! A funny pursuit race full of eroticism and "bock-beer"
Author's Comments: This is a map and Scenario of north-Germany. It never takes up for himself, to be identical with the real north-Germany. It`s fictitious ! Quite the reverse: The map shows "mountains" and other "geological details" which would be "one-time" in the complete geological history (what a pity !) My "north-Germany" offers almost everything: Wood, cabbage, ore, oil, corn, ports (yes, it`s finally north-Germany and lies in the proximity of the North Sea), sheep .... and of course: beer! Now you will say: beer isn't offered or produced in RT2. That`s right! But what shall I do, the story deals with this good stuff! Well, regards every waggon as "beer-waggon", then it will work. Much more important are the many "small details". You already will see it, If you take the small details and primarily -the reports- into your account!
The story: Anno Domini 1830 "Speedy" ruled in north-Germany, peaceful and in harmony with the nature and his people. The people were so enthusiastic about this ruler that they lovingly mentioned him to "King Speedy". They baptized his capital "King Speedy Town". It seems, that there were nothing what could disturb the harmony in this empire, ever. Yes, if there not still also "Alci". A never-do-well and criminal. This "Alci" had day out and day in nothing else to do, as produce and distribut alcohol ( beer! -Therefore his name "Alci"- ). This turned out allright for decades. Nothing would have changed, haven't "Alci" made the mistake of his life. He crept into King-Speedys wonderland and founded next to Speedy's capital the metropolis "Alci-Town". Illicit distillers and breweries grew "in no time at all" like mushrooms in ALCI-Town. His idea was a "big north-German bock-beer-party". But King Speedy wasn't stupid (unfortunately, he also loved bock-beer about everything). He wanted to banish Alci from his empire. He knew about his large weakness. Alci was randy to win "gold medals". And so "the evil took his run..."

Goal: Start in the early days of Swiss railways and conquer the mountain passes.
Author's Comments: This is a single-player scenario about Swiss railways. You will have to build up the whole Swiss railway network, but the St. Gotthard line (from Basel over the St. Gotthard Pass to Chiasso) and the Glacier Express line (from Zermatt, the Matterhorn town) over the Furka and the Albula Pass to St. Moritz (the famous resort in the Engadin valley) will have an especially high priority to win the scenario.
The map uses the maximum size and is made after accurate GIS data of Switzerland; it includes all major towns, lakes and mountains; industries are put together as near to reality as possible.

Goal: Postwar Italy 1947. Rebuild and reshape Italian industry. Most rail will have to be relaid. Difficult terrain will be the challenge, success it's own reward.
Author's Comments: One of the maps found in the GOLD edition of the Railroad Tycoon.

Goal: (Map #1) The year is 1953, and this is the first year of the Norwegian Railroad Company. You have to build the railroad just like it was built in real life. So this single game campaign is a reconstruction of NSB.
(Map #2) The year is 1921. Trondheim has been connected to the southern railroad. Now its up to you to build the northern railroad.
(Map #3) The year is 1962. The northern railroad has been built. All further plans have been canceled. Only you can do something about it! Complete the last part, and connect Kirkenes to the railroad.
Author's Comments: This is a single map/champaign, and it is a reconstruction of the Norwegian railroad(NSB). Part 1 its the southern part of Norway(1853-1950). You have to build up the railroad step by step, as it was done in the old days. You will receive new orders each time a "real" connection has been made.
Part two its the middle part of Norway(Northern railroad (1921-1962). You have to build the northern railroad, step by step in the same way you did with the southern part. Part three(1963-2014) its the northern part of Norway.
This part was planned, but the gouverment canceleted it, because it was of leak of money, and the because of the population in the area. So the track was never build...
And the challange to you its to complete their old plan, and make the peouple happy!
I have made all the maps difficult to win. But it is a rank anyway:
Part one its the easiest map to win. Map to difficult, and map three its allmost impossible to win.
But they are all difficult maps, so you have much to do in the future.
Many historic happenings has been adden, and many challenge to.

Goal: Im Jahr 1921 hat die junge Sowjetunion grosse innen-politische Schwierigkeiten. Das Land ist unterentwickelt. Doch die reichen Bodenschätze machen es leicht, grosse Industriegebiete aufzubauen.
Author's Comments: Feel free to build a railroad-system in East Poland, East Rumania and Ukraine. It is an open end game with no newspapers and no tasks. Notice, that a lot of cities has old names (different from modern names).
Like in all my maps, industries and woods are on the right place. Surely, not all industries worked on the same times à but I mean, that is no problem for a game!

Goal: Government charter says 3 locomotive limit. 10 year connection map. Narrow gauge low prices. Rich in industries, but war production is very low. 2 choice events. Gold = medium to hard on expert.
Author's Comments: A German Narrow gauge RR tries to survive during the war. The map will use dialogs for giving instructions.

Goal: Prepare Roma for the invasion of pilgrims coming from all over the world to the Jubilee.
Author's Comments: Burinia is an historical region around Roma. The inhabitants are friendly and hearty, but they are worried for the arrival of millions of pilgrims in Roma for the 2000 Jubilee. Roads are full of work yards, traffic is blocked, people curse.
You have an important mission: build an efficient and capable railway system, otherwise the wrath of God is going to fall down on the Eternal City. However this game goes, we suggest you to eat some Ariccia's roast pig and drink some Castles wine!
