Now, please mark spoiler space, I ahven't been able tog et my hands on a copy of the butlerian jihad yet.

It is mentioned in Dune that Paul is the second Lisan al Gaib, and that the first was much like Jessica. Do any of you believe that the new prequels might pick up on this possible (an interesting) plot thread? Would you like to see them pick it up?

Another question, who do you beleive the first could have been? Butler herself? One of the sorceresses? Male, female?

New Butlerian Jihad novels have a Lisan al Gaib? I doubt it, from what I seen in the first Butlerian Jihad novel.

Would I like to see them pick up that story?:

Yes: It woudl be interesting

No: Doubt it happened that early (unless by freak accident)

As for who it could be, I have no idea. Doubt someone from the prequel. (The bene gesserit still had to plant that legend in Fremen myths.)

The Lisan Al-Gaib was the "Voice from the Outer World" - specifically, an off-world prophet. And the very role of the BG Missionaries was to spread "prophecies" throughout the universe. Pardot Kynes could similarly be considered a Lisan Al-Gaib, could he not?
