Video card problems?

This problem is occurring more and more often...

When I play a game(this error only occur when playing games), all of a sudden my monitor switches into standby mode. Sometimes, I get an "out of frequency" error on the screen. The error message is generated by the monitor itself, not the computer.

First, I thought it was the monitor, but when playing lan games, I noticed that the other computers playing with me got a "drop player" screen up, so I figured that it wasn't my monitor.

When this error occurs, my computer still runs, but my monitors switch into standby mode. This makes me think my graphics card is having problems.

Yesterday, seconds after that error occured again(during a Warcraft III game with my brother and some friends), I opened up my chassis to check that everything was alright in there.

The gpu fan was very hot to the touch, almost so hot that it hurt to touch it.

The cpu cooling rib was not so hot, nor was the motherboard cooling rib.

I also checked that no contacts touched eachother. They didn't.

Everything seemed excellent inside my chassis. One of they guys I was playing with, reccommended me to test playing a game with the chassisdoor open, to test if it became too hot in the chassis.

After all, I only have one chassisfan.

Nothing improved.

The game this error is occurring most often in(actually, this error EVERY time I play it), is the Rise of Nations.

I played it, and after 15-30 minutes, the screen turns black, and I must hit the restart button on my computer.

The graphic card I am using is Sapphire Radeon 9700 Atlantis PRO, and I have the most recent graphic drivers for it.

Does anyone know what might be the problem?

I think I've fixed the problem.

ATI had just updated their drivers a few days ago, and they seem to have removed the problem.

I just enjoyed my first game of Rise of Nations! It's a very, very good game.

Btw, is there a way to turn that wonder victory off?

Dang... Then I'll need to buy the game.

That is not a problem, because I am having an exam in a few days and need to revise.

I would also need some time to buy the game(a day :P).
