Terra isnt important in the grand scheme of things. It is just viewed as a historical homeland of humankind. This is just a speculation but I think maybe the bene gesserit lay claim to a lot of earth since they are the great history keepers. it is actually very close to Arrakis which is in the canopus system that is a few lightyears away from earth

It would have been cool if a House ruled earth, and that they added it in some new dune book. Merly a suggestion

That would explain the Pre-spice travel thing. A colony ship could spend years going to a nearby planet, and then discover spice, and it all goes from there.

In Dune, Terra was a forgotten place and only the bene gesserit, Paul, Leto II etc. remembered it. But in HA, HH, and HC they said alot of things about Earth

Yes it's true. Earth has become a long forgotten planet, only mentioned as the original 'source' of mankind. Only the pre-born can remember it.
