Hey all! I wanted to give making Generals Maps. I go into the CD and find the short cut. I click it and it sais Extract. It asks me where I want to extract the files to. I say put it on the desktop. It goes there and i minimize the cd screen. I look at my desktop and theres the icon. I click it and this message comes up....

"This application has failed to start because mss32.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."

???

I figured well I guess il just re-install Generals but then i thought......then i would loose all my save games.........i dont want to do that.....

Any ideas on how to get it to work without loosing all my saves?

When it extracts, try extracting it into the default location, otherwise use the "my documents/Generals" folder.

If you want to re-install and not loose your saved games, try locating them in the Generals folder and copy them to another directory. Re-install the game and copy the save files back.

Try Start>Find>Files and Folders, and click My Computer for the "Look in:" and type in the "Named:" area " mss32.dll ". Click Find Now and see where it is. Wherever it is, extract into that directory. Most likely it is in your Generals directory.

You simply use the mapbuilder program that is already installed on your hard drive when you installed the generals game, no need to get it from cd.

There is no danger for loosing your maps or gamesaves when you reinstall generals. The reinstalment will change the generals game directory but the games and maps are saved in the your documents/command and conquer generals directory.
