Ok I'd like to know under what terms the prisoners on Guantanamo is held back. Are the POW's or just prisoners. If the later then why haven't they been put infront of a jury yet? No evidence have been shown it's all Hush Hush.

If they are POW's then will they be set free after we pull out of Afghanistan wich is subscribed under the Geneva convention?

I'm not supporting them but it's pretty dumb yelling about human rights when we aren't living up to them don't you think?

Technicly spoken, the US isn't obliged to abide by the convention of Geneva because no declaration of war has been issued on anybody, and thus they don't. It's not dumb, just an abomination.

Actually, they are being given secret tribunals. After the issue over John Walker Lindh was settled, there wasn't much left for the media to pay attention to over it. (Or that they are allowed to...)

well why aren't they put infront of a judge and a jury? Talking their freedom away without any trial what so ever, isn't exactly very human.

I believe they are called "Illegal combetants" I don't really know this term, we could invade many countries where they don't have a uniformed army and military ID and then call the ones who oppose illegal combetants, then they wont have any rights, this way will teach the world about human rights.

Geneva Convention from 1929 talks:

"Military personnel and auxilliaries who are captured or who surrender must have their lives spared and be provided with adequate food, clothing, housing, and medical care. The seriously ill must be repatriated. The names of the prisoners of war must be sent immediately to a Central Prisoner of War Information Agency (traditionally operated by the International Committee of the Red Cross), and the prisoners must be allowed to correspond with their families and to receive relief parcels."

They live. They have food. Also clothes, housing and medical care. How they ill are isn't known. Possibly hardest is their mental illness, fanatics. What is then being violated?

after the war they most be set free imidiately ( I don't know if we can say the war is over yet, we prolly can't). But they can't be called POW's as they have no military ID nor were they uniformed as I believe the Geneva conventions say they shall be.

Maybe there are trials. But they were captured because they fired on them. And it is sure, that if you give them a chance, they will continue.

I never said otherwise, I never claimed they wasn't dangerous, and I never stated that I support them. But I haven't heard of any trials as of yet. I know of 2 people (a dane and a swede) who have been detained for about a year now with out any trial.
