Dune 2000 on Xp

Hello, i have a new Dell with Windows XP. When i put the Dune 2000 Cd into the Cd rom it locks down. Can anyone help me

Anyway.

Do you have the newest drivers installed. XP requires more recent drivers then 9x.

But that sounds like a CD problem. Check for any scratches or smudges. Either side. If that fails, turn of auto-run. And open the game normally. If none of these work, reply. I will go from there.

I have tried all of that. When i put the cd in it locks up. The cd just spins, But no install . Then after about 20 seconds all my desk top icons vanish. I still can move my mouse pointer. But control-alt- del does not do a thing. i have to turn off the computer. Thanks for helping me this has me puzzled

This used to happen to me on 98. Start up your computer, but before windows loads, insert the CD. That will stop auto-run. Then, open it.

No luck, the auto run did not start. As soon as i treid to open it the same thing as always happened

Thanks for the help, but i think something is wrong with the disk, I do not see any scratches, but it just did the same thing to my old windows 95 computer

Open my computer. Then right-click on the CD and choose explore.

Does it happen with more cd's or just this one ?

Also, if it happens on another pc as well, you might want to try another just to be sure, but it sounds like the cd is the culprint.

I have gone back with a "wrong" CD to the company.

They simply gave me a new one.
