GhostHunter Posted December 31, 2002 Posted December 31, 2002 Followed the tutorial but did my own map instead of the tutorial map and I finally got it done and when I select "Build map" I get one error:"Found a Self intersecting zone/boundry- Cannot Build"What is this and how do I fix it to complete my beutiful first map? Plz I need help :'(
rigel6669 Posted January 1, 2003 Posted January 1, 2003 Have a look at the map editor help file page 6.Intersecting profile outlines: go to the zones layer and put LOD from 2 to 0. Now you can see the error as they will have pink triangles around them. Solution: move the outline points untill the triangles disappear.Check out your map and move the intersecting profile outlines. Before building save the changes and try building again...You will get this error when the profiles intersect. If you can not find the solution make a picture of the map and post it here.
GhostHunter Posted January 1, 2003 Author Posted January 1, 2003 Hey thanks Rigel, Vigil showed me what was wrong and I fixed it so its all good now......Except for cliffs, cliffs are comin RLY hard to me, can you guys give me some pointers and info on how to do it better?
rigel6669 Posted January 1, 2003 Posted January 1, 2003 You want some information about the profile list ( cliffs ). What exactly do you want to know?
GhostHunter Posted January 1, 2003 Author Posted January 1, 2003 Well A Few Things, All My Cliffs Look Rly Bad.Btw Rigel Can You Download Msn Or Aol Instant Messenger Because Your Being A Great GREAT Help but the posting time on the message board is a little bit less then desirable. Can download Aol I.m here: http://my.screenname.aol.com/_cqr/login/login.psp?siteId=aimregistrationPROD&authLev=1&mcState=initialized&createSn=1Or Msn Here: http://messenger.msn.com/default.asp?client=1You dont have to but it would be a lot more easy, and you could talk to other fellow Fed2k members on there, I would recommend trying Aol first, but as I said its your choice :)
Frodo Posted January 1, 2003 Posted January 1, 2003 Oh I had that problem when I first tried making maps. I never did fix it though I don't think.
ethan Posted January 1, 2003 Posted January 1, 2003 that aint no cliff! thats frickin Mt. Everest in the desert!
rigel6669 Posted January 1, 2003 Posted January 1, 2003 I see your point, you have problems with choosing the correct ramps. Personally i do not like the ramps that are available in the profile list. There are 3 ramps available: left, right and all joigning ramps. When you mix them up they look awfull, i got that problem too before. You also have to be carefull as there are tall, short and wide cliffs. And for each of them there is a ramp. The only thing that i can suggest is try changing the ramps a few times and view the map afterwards.I do not have a colorwash program but it allows you to give the ramps a more colorfull view. Personally i abandoned using the ramps of the profile list and replaced them by the ramps available in the objects list. These ramps are standard but i like them more because of their shape and size.If you still want to continue using the ramps of the profile list, try the all joigning ramps first.Good luck ;)
