Apollyon

He crouched on the rusted metal surface. The wind whistled about him and his hair was cast across his face. He brushed away the rogue strands and watched with fascination the scene below him. Two men had walked into a city bank. Several minutes later, vehicles with flashing lights atop them had arrived outside. Hiel watched with interest as the tiny specks below, amplified by his powerful vision, played out a role he had seen many times before and yet still fascinated him. The men who had arrived in the strange vehicles opened fire on the bank. Glass shattered and screams echoed. A grin spread slowly across Hiel's face.

Ok then...

...Rowenna smiled as she watched the shadow fall from the building. Her ears twitched at the sound of beating wings, and harsh breathing. Her forked tongue slid over her fangs, her yellow eyes gleamed in the dark. She opened her own, black, scaled wings and took persuit (spelling?).

Hiel hummed casually to himself as he flew. He knew he was being observed and had known for the entire day. Despite this he had little idea of who was watching him so intently. He landed on a tall building and ducked down behind a roof outcropping. He heard the scraping sound of smooth wings beating on air. He measured his timing well and managed to clothes-line the offendor with a carefully outstretched arm. She crashed to the rough surface of the building and finally slid to a halt.

Rowenna scowled. She hated it when she was caught out like that. She dug her fingers into the stonework and felt slightly better as it crumbled in her grip. Then she calmly stood up and turned around. The figure standing there was clearly watching her, but nursing it's arm. She smiled, and attacked, claws outstretched.

Hiel wondered at the foolish daemon's daring as he easily dodged ferocious attack after attack. He had never seen this being before and was not best pleased with the encounter. He quickly came to the conclusion that this battle would not be won by simply dodging. The angel balled his hand into a fist and struck a rune that lay on a small bracelet on his wrist. It chimed and the bracelet seemed to become liquid. the substance grew and spread over the angel's chest and torso rapidly becoming solid and setting the deepest black of oblivion. Hiel laughed coldly as he ceased to dodge the oncoming attacks, just standing there allowing his newly formed armour to protect him from the blows. Finally he strock out, grabbing a clawed hand. He squeezed and felt bones crack.

Rowenna knew that she could not beat this angel but she also thought that she may not have to.

Surely the black armour indicates his fallen stature? Perhaps we are on the same side yet.

"I see your patterns of thought as clearly as words on a page," Hiel stared chillingly at the confused fiendess,"Appearances aren't always as they seem".

With this he kicked her hard in the thorax and advanced inexorably forward where she lay crumpled on the ground.

Rowenna had always known that one of her strengths was the element of surprise. She also knew that her wrist was broken in several different places. She rolled over just in time to avoid a crushing foot.

Leaping into the air, she grasped her broken wrist, and twisted. It crackled nastily, before her hand came free. She flung it at the angel's face. It clawed for his eyes, and he instinctively put up his hands to shield them.

Rowenna leapt, and sank her fangs into his neck. She withdrew them almost instantly, and backed off as the writhing hand was thrown to the ground.

Rowenna spat into the bottle she carried, and took off into the night. As she soared up she licked the angel's blood from her teeth, and smiled at the taste. Her hand would grow back, in time. And the one she had left behind would be ashes in a few hours. She flew on.
