I once read an article about "solar sails", wich had something to do with actually using a large "sail", wich will be slowly pushed forward by photons. It won't accelerate as quickly as combustion engines, but it keeps accelerating and thus can reach enourmous speeds. I don't know about the viability of this however.

Oh, the solar sails are a very feasible and quite well-known design. They are extremely cheap compared to other propulsion systems and would be a perfect way to move through the Solar System, since they don't require any fuel.

Only one problem: We don't have any material that could be used as the sail...

and another problem. The sail would have to be pretty large. talking like football fields in size. The size of it is extremely dangerous because of space debrise. lot of people forget that problem.
