Hello,

I have read the books of Dune. Frankly though, frank's other

works like the Pandora Trilogy and Whipping Star series are great, if not

better than the Dune series. Anyway to the question. I have noticed

dozens of connections with language, items and vehicles that are exactly

from the Dune universe which was written before these other series'. I am

wondering if there is a connection between Dune and some of his other

works. Maybe they had to do with pre jihad history? thanks for your

time:-)

Dear Titus,

That's an excellent question. We've noticed some of the subtle crossovers

ourselves, but unfortunately in these matters, Frank Herbert left us no

detailed explanations of how he intended to tie it all together.

Kevin J. Anderson

Wow. I got this email from Kevin. (Thanks kevin by the way for being so cool for writing back. got lots of respect for you.) Its interesting that they see a crossover and maybe Frank was going to connect it. I just thought it was cool.

By the way. Brian and Kevin are cool. Frank herbert just wrote books. Simple books. They are not meant to be worshiped or adored beyond reason. People spit on brian and kevin too much. They do great in continuing the wonderful myth that Frank wrote. Remember they are just books. Good good good books.lol

yeah, i have a group of friends over here in indiana into dune and frank herberts writings and we noticed the link also.. The Pandora trilogy.. oh my god.. its so freaking awesome with the mutes and the norms and everything, and the islands... oh my.. such great thinking.. i was thrilled for being able to read the works... definately some subliminal linkage going on.

Totally Duneguy. I loved the Pandora trilogy. I am happy to see you know your stuff with that. Your cool in my book.

One more thing i noticed that the books are pretty much the same just with different interfaces.. chani is like Scudi Wang... and bret is like paul.. and land is the SPICE.. lots of similitaries..... or the Hyb Tanks might be the spice, and land might be Arrakis

well the language of the worlds is Galach in the Whipping star series

The ships besides the "eggs" in the pandora trilogy are called heighliners.

There are Chairdogs in both the pandora trilogy, as well as in the whipping star Trillogy.

The weapons used in Whipping star are simaler to Las-guns

Same philosophy of consciousness and the id are used in the pandora and whipping star trilogy as in the Dune series

Many many more that I just cant think of right now.lol Help me out a bit more Duneguy. I want to see some more of the crossovers. :)

lets see.. hmm.. i cant remeber names very well TMA so i will go to my book and get names to refrence to later.. but that one evil merman guy thats whants the Hybernation tanks thatr are coming out of the planets orbit.. hes like harkonnen, the one guy that chooses whether people will die or not(guy with gastric problems and long neck and is lanky) is like atredies.. the late mr. wang is like ordos.. there are lots of things that can be said on that part. i noticed that the feelings of each character are so closely related that sometimes i get confused, lol.. Herbert usid same thinkings along with Bill Ransom's to make it a lot like dune, yet qwith differences.. i dont know what SHIP wouls be but i think SHIP is like Shi-Halud

I read Frank Herbert's books a long time ago, the most recent one was the Jesus Incident. I don't really have time to read any of them again at the moment, but I don't really recall many similarities, if you spotted any in this one could you point them out?

hey this is cool. Has anybody else read Frank's other books besides the Dune novels? What do you think is your favorite? Whats your favorite one Duneguy? I would have to say Destination: Void with Whipping Star as a close second.

well i thought about it some more and looked more on the tech. side..

when Brett and the Island(dont remember the name of it) got hit by the wavewall and he went under.. scudis breathing system underwater is kind of like the masts that the fremen wear.. if you kind of think about it.. the tubes and all.. and the airfish is like tilaxeau or however u spell it.. the buildings(merman)are more of the tech. side as related to dune... well i will put some more later.. just trying to get fellow peeps thinking.
