medieval: total war

yo khan. i have medieval: total war but not very long so i got some questions.

1. how do i start a crusade?

2. how can i attack another catholic faction without making the pope hate me. (he actually launched a crusade against me!)

I assume you are playing as a catholic faction. To go on a crusade you need a chapter house then you build on in the unit menu and move it on tto any non catholic provence. the pope may ask for a 'contribution' to the church but usually he wont. As for attacking catholic factions what you should do is get it over with really quickly end seiges especially fast and you shouldn't really attack the popes allies make it neutral or factions the papacy is enemies with.

mine is german :). since i'm dutch. and we are in fact germans in the old times so :). btw, you can't join another crusade can you? i mean my soldiers do join that army but i can't join it myself, so i don't control the units

wait what do you mean?? you dont control other factions crusades that you join but your king can join your own crusades

no i mean. for instance in the spanish launch a crusade, can i join them? i mean once they reach their target country, can i too command battle? together with the spanish comp?

no you dont control it when it reaches it destination

crap :), ah well, the game is great as it is. it's fun to play with the teutonic knights :)

btw another question. If you capture enemy assassins and they say that he's probably from italy, then it is pretty sure he's from italy? cuz i got 4 of their asassins in 2 years and they were supposed to be allies!. (well i made them think twice to do it again though :P i captured 2 of their provinces and wiped out half one fourth of their army heehee)

yeah it's 99% likely that it came from that country and if thats the case the pope is more likely to 'overlook' such invaisions ;D

:) yeah, well he did complain that i had to withdraw my forces within 2 years, so i saved my game and waited what would happen after 2 turns, luckily the italians wanted revenge and started attacking me so the pope made it legal heehee. i just love this game, it's so full of history.

what's ur fav unit? knights templar? well that's my fav french/english unit anyway

i like feudal sergeants and arquebusiers they make a good combination. Btw do you play online??

no, haven't tried yet, i'm still practicing vs. comp, since i'm not too good yet. is it fun online?

i dunno probably though cos shogun was but you can only play it over gamespy

damn this. I'm currently playin the campaign but those damn almohads have already vanquished the spanish, the english and the aragonese and are currently assaulting the french. i'm not an enemy to the almohads but i am an ally to the french and i realy want to help them but the english are threatening me from the other side. those almohads are realy proving to be a damn powerful enemy. I don't know yet how to stop them, if i could just get my troops from my borders away where i have enemies so i could use them against the almohads. But all my enemies are just waiting for that, once i take away my troops i can say bye bye to my empire, the game is great though. and i love those crusades, one question though. If i launch a crusade i get 40 teutonic knights for free, can i also build them apart?

no teutonic knights, teutonic sergants, knight templars, knights of santiago, knights hospitallers and order foot soldiers are all crusade only units. What you should do is send a few princesses to the english they should ally with you, especially if you lessen your garrisons on their border. Btw i finnaly finished they full campaign from the early age. It Ended up being me (french) vs the novgorods and the egyptians, i was being attacked from both sides and a civil war erupted but i stil won. now I'm doing it on hard as the Turks, how many years do you have left??

whats the turkish campaigan like?

well, all campaigns are the same, except from a different point of view ofcourse. conquer the map or 2/3 of the map, i'm not sure actually

yeah its pretty much the same except the units and buildings and that change

yeah, and ofcourse a different feeling for every nation. it's quite challenging to play as the danes (vikings etc.) and stuff. it's also fun to play as islam though, way different strategies than the knights in europe use

okide, i got gamespy installed, tell me when you wanna play, i'm still not that good in battles... i always spend too much money on my favorite units (high period units)
