Anyone know how to make a video of a game segment?

I do not know much at all about graphics and video. But I would like to make a small mpeg or real video clip of some knife fight action to put on my website. Is there any software you know of that will let me "record" the output on my screen and compress it into a movie? Someone help the worm!!

well i found some programs that make .avi files of your games. Doesn't really work that great. 7 shots per second slows down the game tremendously. The video looks really good though, except that it is HUGE. 20 seconds of game time is like 30 MB. Thats crazy, guess I wont be having any video on my site. :(

I think game companies use a special card or something to do the movies, that or they have a special program to output the video.

ill tell you the name of the program when i get home. im at work now so i dont remember where i found it. I could remote desktop into my XP pro computer at home and find out, except that someone is using it right now and if I remote in, XP PRO will forcibly log that person out and lock the screen. :(

I think that it will put just an *.avi file without any compression? Use Divx codec so 30mb will turn to 3-4mb. Just guessing...
