ARGH! Emperor Battle For Dune refuses to work! Whenever I try starting the game up, is closes right before the menu screen appears and then sends me back to windows or vice-versa:D anyway when attempting to reinstall, the most unfortunate thing happened… I uninstalled the game and then was going to reinstall but when I tried to load up the installation CD, I was greeted with the following message, twice in a row

Autorun

Autorun has caused an error in KERNEL32. DLL (not sure if there is a space between KERNEL32. and DLL or not

Autorun will now close

If you continue to experience problems try restarting you’re computer

Then after that, I was greeted by yet another message:

Restrictions

This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact you’re system administrator.

I have attempted restarting as well as trying to load the setup via explore but unfortunately restarting has yielded no fruits and trying to load setup via explore simply results in ‘’setup is not responding’’…doh

It seems that I will never be able to enjoy outwitting my Ordos or Harkonnen hoards opponents ever again using my sneaky tricks as I defend the name of the sneaky and strategical Atreides ever again:(

Unless of course I make another copy of Emperor Battle For Dune using my CD writer:D but unfortunately, a copy would probably have the same problems:(

dxdiag? im assuming you're reffering to my system specifications... im not totally clear on them myself to be honest because the computer in my house belongs to my big brother however i can provide a little info for now until i get enough time to ask him

Hard drive: pentium 3

Cd rom: high speed (apparently:D) Mecer drive... 24 times 10 times 40... or more specifically: ATAPIE CD-R/RW 24 times 10 :D

Graphics card: GeForce2 MX series

Sound type: surround however with only 1 speaker functioning it doesn't really live up to it name anymore:D

I also have a little info on my computer's status if it helps

My CD-ROM's access pattern is optmized for quad-speed or higher

My hardware accelaration is set to full

And no my computers doesn't use Windows XP

My system rescources are 69% free but on has 1.44 GB remaining with a capacity of 9.52 GB

Try this: Go to start => run and type there dxdiag. On the display and sound tab there are test buttons, please run them. When done, go back to the first tab and press "save all information". Save it as an txt file on your desktop. When you reply here, attach the file to your reply. That would help a lot :)

I don't think i have Norton (done a search) but my computer does automatically scan for errors whenever it restarts without proper shut down :-X

Search just found the followinf files, they could be remaining remnants of a deleted program however:

XQ Norton disc doctor on boot

XQ Norton disc speed on boot

e.t.c

It's version 1.21, and i guess the likelhood of them being remaining remnants of a deleted program is minute to say the least

By the way, do you still require the sound diag?

No, sound diag is not needed. Make sure you have updated your drivers, especially your video card drivers. Other things you could try:

1) Try testing your memory. You can find a program to do that here.

2) Make sure your computer is not overclocked.

3) Select Control Panel > System, then select the Performance tab, click the Graphics button. Turn down Hardware acceleration by moving the slider a notch to the left, reboot, try again. Repeat as necessary.

4) Make sure your power supply is working and is not to dirty. Same goes for your CPU fan.

The above things are common to cause any kernel32.dll error messages.
