Prime Magistrate Beakkal
Where is this from? Also, where does it say the Novebruns had a Lord?Richese (the planet) had a Premier. I guess he would have been like a Prime Minister compared to a king (the Count).Keep in mind that not all titles are mentioned in Dune. For a list of houses (which has titles) go here:http://community.the-underdogs.org/smiley/deo/houses.htm

With the exception of the magstrate, you've outlined the basic feudal system... EmperorKing(Viceroy)ArchdukeDukeMarquisEarlViscountCountBaron(Baronet)(Knight)... is, I think the correct order

cool!

hum, those list of noblity Titles.... are they doing specials thigns each of them? I mean, like you've said, viceroy act as deputy of the king... do the baron have something to do.... ?

I thought the Viceroy was not actually a feudal title in that it did not carry governorship of land (any viceroy with land would be a noble with a job in the 'civil service')

Anyway, a Duke/archduke is a relative of the king/queen. The Earls were originally the Norman Nobles, allowed to govern over the old English Barons. All of these posts swore fealty to the King/Emperor, and could be required to fight or raise (and command)) an army to serve the King.

Hmmm... I suppose you're right. It's more of a rank, like a Prince/Princess.

Anyway, include "Thane" as another term for "Baron". If I recall correctly, a Thane was a scottish Baron (i.e. MacBeth being Thane of Glamis and Cawdor).

Nope. I just looked it up now to confirm, and a Thane is a Scottish Baron. Although originally, a thane was more like a vassal.[edit] Also, an Earl is simply the Scottish name for a Count.
