cable/direcpc/pegasuss

I currently got cable internet which usually clocks at 2-2.5Mbps.  Great speed, unfortunately my cable company is currently going through problems and my cable internet is going out on average 2 or 3 times a week, anywhere between 3 and 8 hours at a time.

I've alread switched my cable TV to directTV cause of these outages, but the cable company either doesn't care, or can't do anything to correct the situation in the near future

I was wondering if anyone here had "first hand" info on either direcPC or pegasuss express internet dish systems.  I can find alot on pegasuss but hardly anything on direcPC.  From what i have found pegasuss is targeted to people that can't get anything else, and they make you pay through the nose as a result (400 dollars hardware???!!!)

I'm specifically looking for a system that is "2-way" so i don't have to plug the modem into the phone jack.  The thing is i can't find anything on direcPC that actually talks about speed/cost/installation price/etc.

Also, is direcPC the same as directPC??? i keep clicking on hyperlinks for "directPC" and they send me to "direcPC"?? now i'm all confused  :(

Well whats to say you wouldn't have the same problems with satellite?

If you track your outages you can usually call up your ISP and ask for refunds. Satellite costs more and you may get faster downloads but I think your ping is a lot higher as it takes longer to send that first request.

I thought i wouldn't have the same amount of outages with direcPC or pegassus because i have directTV right now and i haven't had but one outage

When i had cable TV i used to have 2 outages a week.  So i thought if i got one of the dishes i would have a more stable connection

Could you elaborate on how to contact your ISP for refunds on outages??? Do you mean contact my cable provider, or contact the ISP that my cable provider connects me to?? Or are they the same?? i have no idea on this

Also, is the ping higher when you have two way satelite??? i know with one way you have to have a modem connected to the phone line, but with two way it's like you have a 24/7 connection
