Dont you think gob that when you check your messages it says "IM messages Index." Isnt it a little redundant since IM means instant messages? sorry if that is annoying but its true! lol :P

There are lots of RRA acronyms (Redundant repetition acronyms!) in use: PIN number, LCD Display, etc. I've seen small newspaper articles on them.

What could be an explanation is that the acronym becomes a symbol, not an acronym (for further explanation, our minds think of the acronym and create a symbol to remember them, e.g. adding what it is after the acronym to complete the symbol) . Or it is that people who don't know the meaning can look at the redundant variable and realize what it is (helping people know what it is).
