Hi guys, I'm new on the forum :D and I'd really like to know if there is a mission editor .. I mean a mission editor in where you can place buildings and units, set the diplomacy between houses, make triggers and all this stuff (like in campaign missions). I saw that AIMegaBOT and GruntLord made some very interesting missions :D how did you do that? Which programs did you use? You made them with HexEditor? or there is still a mission editor for dune2k ? Please help me because I'd love to make more missions for this legendary game :)

Thx for that :D but do you have a tutorial for .mis editing? and also for changing diplomacy between houses and subhouses? Without new objectives or reinforcements and AI scripts is very hard to make a really good mission :D (I mean that if u want to add, for example, a ConYard for the mercenaries in O7V1 or a heavy factory they won't build, they won't do anything, even if they have money). A tutorial for .MIS editing will be very well appreciated :D thx

At this time there is no definitive guide to mission file editing, however significant progress has been made in understanding the file format. I found some of my paper notes the other day, which I have attached. There is some information there that is new, particularly please bear in mind that missions use an event and conditions (not triggers as previously described in the spec below). The difference is small but very important, each event links to a number of conditions, which must be satisfied. The event also stores a value (0 or 1) which states whether or not the condition must be true or false to satisfy the event. This means that for an example an event may only happen when the player does not have a harvester but does have more than 5000 credits, allowing complex events to be created by combination. Each event specific to its event index also carries out its own information (please see the Excel spreadsheets linked to below)

Research is now sufficiently advanced that it would be possible for a determined and sufficiently experienced person(s) to create new campaign missions. While the AI part of the mission files is (as far as I know) not yet understood, the condition and event structures have been cracked and merely need more information about each type of event and condition collated, meaning that only a small amount of work is actually required to open up probably the most significant modding opportunities in the history of Dune 2000. In summary, while I do not have time to work on D2K, if you can find an experienced reverse engineer you are only a small amount of work from the capability to create new missions.

"Information is powerful, it must be controlled!"

Thanks for popping in mvi, ill add these notes to my collection.

@aKaFedaYkin, I will defiantly make a tutorial when I understand more clearly, currently my understanding is limited to changing house allegiances and house indexes, as well as starting money. MVI was instrumental in the research, while most of us only helped guide him as he did the bulk of the work. He is a true hero to D2k Modding. Hopefully he leaves more notes on UIL files :P

I have added MVI's Notes to the D2k+ download page.

I took a look at the .MIS editor and I tried to change the diplomacy and the starting money for me in O9V2, I used 'save as', replaced the old one but nothing canged ingame. There was the same diplomacy and the same starting money. what did I do wrong? Isn't "save as" the way that the modifications are saved?

Ok so here is the situation:

The .MIS editor (test version) worked, but unfortunately it hasn't event and condition editing.

The .MIS editor (test version 2) didn't work for diplomacy, tech level, starting money and when I tried to look at events I had an error: "Unhandled exception has occured in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attemp to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.

Could not load file or assembly 'DialogClassLibrary, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of it's dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified"

maybe it's my fault cuz I don't know to use the events/conditions :D If you can show a tutorial for them or tell me how to work.. The .MIS editor that worked (version test) does not have events/conditions.

None of them were finished. None of them were in working order. The whole point of them being posted was that someone would finish them.

Ok :)

But I have another question, regarding SH2K...

When I try to save what I modified in one or two missions (for example O7V1 or A6V1, A6V2) i get this error: "Error in mdlMain.SaveFile: Path/File acces error (75) in SH2K. Please report all information regarding to this error, the circumstances which caused it, and your system configuration to the author."

What's the problem? I got this error only for 2 or 3 missions not for all.
