Know A Good Place For Maps?

I am going to start working on a new map but I have one dilemma; I think I am going to have to start from scratch with a blank map. 

I need a map of Texas & Louisiana. Does anyone know where I can get a blank map of that area?

Google "GIS" and see if you can find the right kind of data file (something like a gray-scale BMP) to import the topography.

I don't know if this will help or not, but check out Aden Kuenzi's Map Building Guide at this link:  http://hawkdawg.com/rrt/rrt2/rrt2.htm He just recently added it to the site.

He talks about using MicroDem and mentions where to find the DEM data to create RT2 maps.

I don't know if that guide will be of much use to you, since it was primarily made for smaller maps, but please let me know if you don't find what you're looking for.  I'm happy to try to help you get the data for a larger map.  Good luck!
