AA mines are useless and wouldn't work well in tight groups. Like when a group of aerial enemies come towards the AA mine, if anyone of the aircaft stick out from the main group your whole bunch of AA mines would detonate themselves for only 1 or 2 of them, and the rest would come in your base and wreck a hacov.Inorder for them to work well, you MUST order specifically to attack a specific target or place them away from each other.
