Peter Berg's Dune to be filmed in Israel?

According to this article at JewishJournal.com, Peter Berg has been in talks to film Dune in Israel next year.  Bryon Merritt (Frank Herbert's Grandson, and administrator of the official Dune message boards) posted the link to the article, so I'm guessing there is some truth behind it.  This could mean we will get the Arabic/Middle Eastern Fremen that people have been asking for, and perhaps a Greek House Atreides, as it is not far away.
