Dragoon Knight Posted March 21, 2008 Share Posted March 21, 2008 Just wondering if anyone here would be able to shed any light on a little incident that occurred a couple of minutes ago with my brother's laptop.He'd been using it just fine up until about four o'clock, when he turned it off to install some new updates. When he started it up again, it was as if he'd turned on the machine for the first time. All the usual spiel (welcome to Vista, have a tour, free 90 day Norton Anti-Virus, etc.) came up, and all his documents / files were gone.Strangely, some installed programs remained, but others totally disappeared. Luckily, we were able to use System Restore to get all of his files back, but I would really like to know what the hell happened. Was it perhaps the Vista Updates? Is Vista SP1 being distributed yet?Just a heads up for anyone who has Vista that it might not be a good idea to restart any machine just yet. :- Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
