when i opened my msn messenger it said there is new version available when i try to

download it it say i must do critical upgraded to my xp sp2 system by installing

some client .. what is all that stuff? i dont want to install windows updates coz

of disc space .. is there a way to do that? thanks

More details would be nice. Such as what msn were you using? and what is it trying to upgrade to? Exactly what is this "some client"?

I thought there was a forced/recommended upgrade to wlm 8.5.

Yes the WLM 8.5 installer is a piece of crap as I have documented before.

If you are worried about disk space, there are many alternatives to the official WLM client that use less disk space and less CPU/ram, although they usually lack some features (which I don't use anyway).

am using wlm  8.1  it said it needed upgraded when i try to do that

it say my os needs a critical upgread and i need to install windows

update agent 5.8.02 then it want to take me to windows update site

to start poring updates on my pc and i dont need all that i just need

a 5 mb messenger exe .. this is a bad set  back for msn users

well that installer was trying to start me up just like u said but

i refused and canceled from the start . glad i still have the 8.1

exe ill just ignor any upgrades .. is there a way to get that exe

file from somewhere eals ?

I am on 8.5.1 now. The installer that came with 8.0 was confusing to say the least. 8.5 is just the old installer with a few extra options. (ok, they should have left those out and they changed those useless options from the previous version Andrew ;) )

Besides that change of look and feel it's not all that different I think.
