How do I run Dune 2000 on Windows XP????????

I'm really bad with the technical side of computers.

I found my old Dune 2000 game and it's only compatible for W95 and W98!

When trying to install it a message comes up...

C:WINDOWSSYSTEM32AUTOEXE.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications.

I read something about changing the system compatibilities but I have no idea how to do this!

Is there any way to get around this?

If so could someone please explain it step by step?

I have dial-up so I'm hoping there's an easy way to fix this!

Right click on the Dune2k exe file, then pick the compatibility tab and set it back to 95. :)

Or downgrade your pc to windows 95 :P

I think compatibility mode of 98 is better Gryphon.. :P

So go to the installation directory, after you have installed the game..

Then find the Dune.exe (or what ever the executable is called).

right click it, then choos properties

then choose the Compatibility tab

Run this program in the following compatibility mode (or something like it..)

Check that box, and choose windows 98.

Click apply and close the properties screen..

Run the executable.

have fun..

There's no Dune.exe file, there's only....

AUTORUN.EXE

SETUP.EXE

I tried changing the compatibility on those to Windows 98 but it still didn't work.

The strange thing is it works in my sisters computer perfectly fine, and she's also running Windows XP.

autorun and setup.exe on your cd???

I think you first should install it..

And then try that what gryphon and I told you to ;)

so just install it,

then go to the installation directory

Which you filled in at installation, or the default, which should also be displayed on install...

then find the executable which starts dune and do again that compatibility thingy ;)
