I could use some advice on this one. I have finished the game, but the completist in me needs to do it again trying the alternate campaign you may pick at each level.

At the last Atreides battle, you can select a harder option that has effectively spilt the base into 2. Now, I'm fairly good at quickly restructuring and getting the whole base back as one unit in the bottom left hand corner of the map. I set up the rocket turrets and walls, and with plenty of wind traps I can even minimise the Death hand missile strikes.

What I'd like to know is this - is there another way short of building dozens (36+) tanks to get into the larger Harkonnen fortress? I have tried drawing them out and destroying all their units, but find I'm always lacking just one wave more as you've got to get past the rocket turrets to destroy both the construction yard and the space port so they can't rebulid. The back entrance is not the soft option it looks as I find the units often "stray" and go the long way around obstacles, which doesn't help.

Have thought about setting up a small base on the rock at the very bottom of the right side of the screen and just churning out tanks (with some rocket turret protection).

The more I look at it, the more I realise that completion of this level going to take a whole day!

Missile and Sonic tanks end up working the best, like you said.  Tactics don't much matter in Dune2k, its more about brute strength.

There's probably another way, but the massive build up of tanks is easiest.

Main enterance:

This idea sucks! Go and take over the base north of your main base, from there, go across the man-made bridge to the west of the Emperor's base, capture it, and attack from the ill-defended north.

Small base:

Works, I use it as a place to put my refinery and Hi-tech Factory.

In 1 day:

I'd live to see you do it in 1 day.   :D

Do you have a list of hot keys? I got this from a pack and don't have a manual. Please send a list of them to me. Did you know you can airlift units into someone else's base? I'm on Harkonnen 7 and they keep lifting in Sonic Tanks!

Two things.

Firstly, answered my question and cracked the last level.

Solution - take the smaller Harkonnen base and send an Engineer to capture the heavy factory. Access to the Devastator! I simply defended then built up my forces from here.

2 waves at the Emperor's front door - the first is regular Atreides weaponry and takes all units (and possible Harkonnen interference). Not much left to deal with the base proper, but that's where the 2nd wave of 12 Devastators comes in. Their combined blasts destroy everything in record time.

Once the Emperor is destroyed, the Harkonnen stay in their base. Build up again (faster this time as you can have a starport in the Emperor's base) and repeat.

This way, it was all over in less than a day, and the irony is that the coup de gras is the Harkonnen's own heavy tank.

Secondly, yes - this is the Dune 2000 board. Having looked at some of the coversations, I think a few Dune fans that have graduated the Emperor have too high an opinion of themselves. It's just a game.
