Burning Thinkpads smell like monkey butt.

Okay, is a ten year-old IBM Thinkpad 486 supposed to overheat within an hour, even when all useless components and the cover have been removed?

I took the keyboard off, removed the hardware cartridge port (I have no cartridges, so it seems useless to me), so that there's as much airflow as possible, but I still only get an hour or so out of it.

Although I do have a roommate whose good for little else, I think he'd eventually wise up and demand some sort of salary.  Either that, or he'd pass out after ten minutes or so.

No, nor do I have a large enough table for my laptop and a fan.  I use a foldable TV tray, which barely holds the laptop and its dock.

I'd like to get one of those harddrive fans, but I don't think there's an appropriate power lead in my laptop to accomodate one.

Actually, a monkey's butt need not smell bad at all!

It depends on how clean it is. If it's dirty with fresh shit, it might smell of shit, which you've smelled before.

If not, it could smell of sweat or other things.

However, I do not think it smells pretty bad.

I think I could live with the smell.
