I'm thinking about application of existing swordfence techniques for Dune universe. My theory is that Ginaz is an universalistic school, teaching ways of fight with any blade, be it european or eastern. I would limit it to swords, sabres, saxes and daggers. With spears and polearms is yet too hard to find a place to train... As I had more learned from western schools (ie http://www.thearma.org/manuals.htm), I would prefer to focus on these. My intention is to create a Ginaz-type martial art, be it with shields or without (as Holzmann generators are hard to obtain yet ;D ), and adapt it for some Duniverse specifications, like focus on muscular control (BG style), energetic economy (fremen style) or psychologic power of intimidation (Sardaukar style). If you are interested, or have any interesting parts about this from Dune books, I would be glad if you past it here.

Concerning the killing with the blade/point, that's the standard teaching when fencing with a sabre. With foil and epee, you hit with the point only.

"saxes" Pardon?

Sax is something between a sword and dagger, it was used by ancient Germans (mostly their norther tribes), Veneds and most steppe tribes (ie Avars) as a secondary weapon. As of what I know, it is the cathegory, where we would count also longer kindjals, which were mentioned many times in Dune.
