but nobody ever goes there it seems...

went in there a few times but nobody was there. that's why I want to try quakenet as it's the gaming network #1 and also has better services and bots for channel-control. so I'm trying to build up this channel. also there are a lot of people who don't even know about what IRC is, that's why I gave this short explanation...

Can you compare the advantages and disadvantages between IRC and MSN ? That might convince somepeople, if they can see how IRC is better then the MSN they already use...

MSN is an instant messesnger to communicate between 2 people or invite a third an foruth...

IRC is a chat client, you connect to a network with more than 15.000 channels which you can enter, one of them is the #EBFD channel now and you don't need to talk to one person only and invite another person, because the channel is like a chatroom and wahtever msg you write in the channel, every person in it read it. so if there are maybe 10 people online in the channel you don't need to ask each on if he wants a game but just ask for it in the channel.

You can still write a msg to one single person with a private msg or open a query where you can chat with only one person if you want. You can do lots of other stuff like file transfer via DCC too. Like I said: MSN is suggested for contact with a single person, IRC is worldwide chat service. Actually I use them both because I use them for different purposes.

And I don't add any EBFD Player to my list in MSn because I use it at work and don't want to have 30 people or so in my list and be contacted all the time. I only got about 5-8 people on MSN.

With regards to the last point, I have two accounts, one for EBFD and the ladies  8), and one for work. I use msn messenger and windows messenger, which I run concurrently.

As for #EBFD it will not be easy to get everyone on an IRC client, especially as it has been hard enough to get people to use windows messenger which comese with XP. The players these days are lazy dumbos, myself included  ::).

I had IRC once, and got rid of it when I couldnt be bothered with it. The only advantage I can see is we can all talk to each other in the main channel. No inviting everyone, not that that is a major problem.

IRC is just fun :)

I am currently on 8 channels regularly. I am connected with a bouncer which stays 24/7 so even if I am offline you can write me a msg on my bouncer.

At the times when I played CS in a more serious way with leagues and tournaments I was on about 25 channels and it was a lot of fun.

Anyway, who ever wants to join the channel is welcomed. Of course it's hard to get all players in there, but maybe some will come and if they are in they will tell their friends and so on. If not... well doesn't matter too much, but I thought it would be a good idea. you can chat there in the main channel and accept ingame because you don't have to chat there any more  ;D
