That's right - George Bush received an endorsement from the government of a country within the "axis of evil". And not just any country, but one of the only two places in the world where the Church IS the State: The Islamic Republic of Iran (the other such country is the Vatican).

To be more exact, Hasan Rowhani, the head of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council, said that four more years of Bush would be "good for Iran". And other terro... *cough*, I mean, respected leaders of the Islamic world, are also beginning to see the benefits of Bush. Seems like he's not so bad for an infidel.

So, without further comment, I strongly encourage every American with a deep sympathy for the values of repressive theocracy to go out and vote for Bush on tuesday.

Hasan Rowhani is the key person in debates over iranian nuclear program with Americans, surely, but I wouldn't use such formula as "Iran endorses George Bush" if it isn't at least president Chatami.

As funny as that is, Edric, that connection seems pretty flimsy to me. I doubt Bush can be construed as a "friend" of oppressive theocracies in any perverted sense of the word. He's simply a danger to himself and others. Whatever Iran is thinking its doing by endorsing Bush, I do not know. Probably something they think will aid their interests in the long run. That, or maybe they're convinced Bush will win the election and want to start being nice now... whatever.

Of course he's not their friend. This "endorsement" is a one-sided relationship. Bush hates Iran, but the Iranian government sees Bush as ultimately good for them. That's what makes it so funny - when your enemies like you, you're obviously not doing a very good job.

Actually, present memetic warfare is based on turning enemy to your side. Iran tries to look so, to prevent further hits, altough in Iraq or Serbia we can see how Americans failed.
