Help with hard drive instalation...

Well, Since my comp at home is down, I took out my personal hard drive(which contains all my writing, music ect) to my dads.

Well for awhile, i coudlnt get it booted up, then i rememberd the little tab thingies that went in the back of the hard drives.

After screwing with them for awhile, i decided to put all of them in the primary hard drive, which managed to boot the computer back up.

But i still cant get the secondary hard drive to be recongonized.

(The primary hard drive has all of the tab thingies in)

(The secondary one does not have any)

How do i get it to recognize my second hard drive?

those tab thingies ar not by any change jumpers I suppose ?

the easiest way to accomplish the datatransfer is to just put your harddrive as a master drive on the secundairy IDE channel. Make shure it's the only device on the secundairy channel. If it's WindowsXP and your BIOS recognises the drive you should be able to copy the data without to much problems.

Well can anyone have a pic or something?

The only way I could get to recognize my secondary hard drive was to put all the jumpers in and boot it up, but that didnt work since its just a storage drive...so i moved them to the main one.

If I put all of them on both, will it work?

They way you should place the jumpers for Master and Slave setting should be stated on the harddrive somewhere (either the back or on top).
